Laser Vein Removal for the Face & Legs

Performed at our Duluth, GA medical office, north of Atlanta.

spider vein removal atlanta duluth gaSpider veins, or telangiectasias, are small, thin, blood vessels visible beneath the skin. They appear most commonly on the face and legs and may look like a series of lines, tree branches, or a spider- or web-like shape with a dark center. It is estimated that they affect nearly half of adult women in the U.S.

For spider veins, our laser produces a highly unique wavelength, which safely passes through the skin and is selectively absorbed by the targeted blood vessel. The spider vein will then gradually disappear, leaving the skin intact. Side effects are uncommon and usually mild, including a slight redness for a few days following the treatment.

Laser Lights Cosmetic Laser Center offers our Atlanta, GA patients’ FDA approved, advanced laser technology for both spider veins on the face and spider veins on the legs.  In addition, we can remove larger blue reticular veins on the face and/or legs.  No Injections or incisions are necessary—our laser vein removal technology is safe for all skin types and can provide immediate results without any lifestyle interruptions.  Most laser vein removal will require anywhere from one to three treatments to remove completely and will be discussed with you at your initial consultation appointment.  Pricing for this service and other services offered here at our center can be found here.

Spider Veins FAQs

What are spider veins?

Spider veins are small visible veins (sometimes called telangiectasias) that are close to the surface of the skin. They most often occur in the face around the cheeks and nose, as well as on the legs (calves, thighs, etc.). Those with spider veins often suffer no physical symptoms other than the visible veins themselves. Spider veins usually look like fine bluish or red lines arranged in a tree- or spider web-like shape.

What causes spider veins?
The true cause of spider veins remains unknown. Genetics may play a part in the chances of an individual getting spider veins. These small visible veins occur when the one-way valves in veins do not work properly, allowing blood to leak downward back into the veins. While not dangerous, spider veins can give away our age, making us look older than we are.

What factors increase my risk of getting spider veins?
Spider veins in the legs are most often seen in women, while men are more likely to have visible veins in the face. Age is a factor because our blood vessels weaken and do not work as well as they once did. Sun exposure can enhance the chances of a fair-skinned person developing spider veins on the face. One reason women may be more susceptible is that pregnancy increases the amount of blood in the body and causes veins to enlarge. Other factors like hormones, obesity, and more can also be culprits for spider veins.

How do lasers treat spider veins?
During laser vein removal, the laser treatment delivers laser energy to the vein to coagulate the blood inside the vein. The body gradually absorbs the vessel. Laser vein removal is completely safe and does not require any injections or surgery.

Is it harmful to remove spider veins?
Spider veins serve no purpose or function; therefore removing them does not harm you. Laser vain removal is typically performed to minimize the appearance of spider veins.

Can spider veins come back after treatment?
While new spider veins can crop up as a result of pregnancy or other factors, previously treated veins should not recur. Many people who have spider veins are thought to have a predisposition toward developing them.
