Today, another patient has agreed to tell her story about one of the rising stars of skin treatments: microneedling with natural growth factors.
Hi! I’m Lyla, and I’m excited to tell you about my microneedling at Laser Lights!
As a 23-year-old, I’ve been dealing with acne for a long time, and it’s left me with a lot of acne scars and some stubborn pinkness that won’t go away. I’ve had a few other procedures at Laser Lights and it’s always been a great experience, so I asked the aestheticians what they’d recommend for my skin and they suggested microneedling with natural growth factors.
I know that the idea of using blood-based growth factors freaks out some people, but it doesn’t feel strange at all. They just drew a little sample of my blood and then I waited for five or ten minutes while they extracted the growth factors from it. They explained that this involves putting the sample tube into a spinning centrifuge, which separates the growth factors. After that, the aesthetician came in and cleansed my skin to start the treatment. She proceeded to go across my face section by section (since I chose to have my full face treated), applying the growth factors and using the Réjuvapen® microneedling tool. The Réjuvapen® taps the needles automatically, so the aesthetician just glided it over my skin in rows.
Throughout the treatment, I didn’t feel much at all in terms of pain because I had put on numbing cream about an hour before my appointment. By the time the microneedling started, my face was thoroughly numb so I could just relax comfortably.
The microneedling only took about 45 minutes. After she was done, the aesthetician cleansed my skin and then took a few minutes to tell me what to expect in the next few days and how to take care of my skin. I loved that she took the time to answer all my questions and make sure I was leaving with a good idea of what to do next and what to expect.
Immediately after my treatment, I had some redness and a little swelling, but I noticed a difference in my skin as soon as I started to heal! I was amazed at how smooth and clear my skin was. In fact, my mom loved how my skin looked so much that she wants to get the treatment done, too! It’s now been four days after the procedure, and as my skin heals, it’s beginning to flake and peel. I can’t wait to see how much it improves my acne scars and the pinkness in my skin! The aesthetician told me that this treatment is great for tightening my skin too, which is just one more perk I’m looking forward to.
All in all, my microneedling and growth factor treatment was an easy, relaxed experience that’s already paying off in the results, and I’m so glad I did it!
