Ask Laser Lights: Which Skin Treatments are Safe for My Sensitive Skin?

Uncategorized microdermabrasion Atlanta, microneedling Atlanta, sensitive chemical peels Atlanta, skin care treatments for sensitive skin, what skin treatments are safe for sensitive skin

Everywhere you look, there seems to be a new skin treatment or skincare product to try. But for people with sensitive skin, the selection is always limited. You need to be very selective about what you put on your skin (and how you treat it). At Laser Lights Cosmetic Laser Center, our skilled medical staff is experienced in working with all skin types, including sensitive skin. While we tailor every treatment to our individual patient, some procedures are just safer for sensitive skin than others. Learn more about the top procedures we recommend for sensitive skin:

SilkPeel® Dermalinfusion®

SilkPeel® is one of our most universally successful treatments we offer. As a more advanced form of microdermabrasion, SilkPeel® can treat fine lines, wrinkles, acne, and just a dull or uneven complexion. The procedure does three actions at once: abrading away damaged surface skin, suctioning to clear debris from within the pores, and infusing a customized topical medication. This combination makes it more effective and more versatile than traditional microdermabrasion, but it’s also very gentle and comfortable. You can have one treatment to brighten your skin before a special event, or for a more long-term result, you can opt for a series of several sessions.

Sensi Peel® Chemical Peel

Chemical peels all involve using a specialized topical product to affect the surface layers of the skin. Your body responds by peeling away damaged surface skin, which improves sun damage, fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, and more. But chemical peels vary in their strength and in the chemicals they use. Many are too irritating for sensitive skin, but Sensi Peel® was specially formulated by PCA Skin® to treat sensitive skin. With minimal inflammation, this gentle chemical peel still offers powerful results, and it can be customized even further by changing the amount of time it’s left on the skin, the number of layers used, the products applied afterward, and more.

Viora Reaction™ Skin Tightening

We all lose firmness in our skin as we age. While fractionated laser skin resurfacing can make a great improvement, it’s too intense for most people with sensitive skin. Instead, Viora Reaction™ can provide fantastic skin tightening results with a gentle, non-ablative treatment. The procedure uses targeted radio frequency energy (RF) to warm the deeper layers of the skin. This builds skin-firming collagen and elastin while enhancing blood flow and giving your skin a more youthful texture.

Réjuvapen® Microneedling

Microneedling, like chemical peels and skin tightening, can be adjusted to be suitable for sensitive skin. The procedure uses very short, ultrafine needles to stimulate your natural collagen production. This revitalizes your skin by restoring firmness and reducing fine lines, wrinkles, and acne scars. The number of sessions you receive and the types of topical products that are used can cater the microneedling treatment to your specific needs.

If you have sensitive skin AND a passion for skin care, it can feel like a cruel joke because you’re limited on the products and treatments you can enjoy. But you can still get a beautiful improvement in your skin as long as you receive the right procedure and see a licensed medical aesthetician or other medical professional with experience treating sensitive skin. The Latest in Microdermabrasion

Uncategorized Atlanta microdermabrasion, how is silkpeel different than microdermabrasion, microdermabrasion Atlanta, what is Dermalinfusion, what is the best microdermabrasion treatment

The field of cosmetic skin care is constantly changing thanks to new medical and technological advancements, and at Laser Lights Cosmetic Laser Center, we pride ourselves on offering our patients the latest and greatest. In fact, one of our most popular treatments is the latest twist on a long-time patient favorite: microdermabrasion. The procedure we offer is called SilkPeel® Dermalinfusion®, and after offering this treatment for over three years, we can testify to its effectiveness for age spots, acne, fine lines and wrinkles, and just overall complexion. To give you a better idea of what Dermalinfusion® is and how it’s evolved from microdermabrasion and even earlier, here are a few fun facts about its history.

Dermabrasion

All the procedures in this blog use the same general process: manually exfoliating damaged skin cells from the surface of your skin in order to allow the younger, fresher skin beneath to shin through. This originally began as dermabrasion (“abrading” away the top layer of skin) in the early 1900s. Original dermabrasion is a rather significant treatment that requires local anesthesia and can take around 7-10 to recover from – an even longer recovery time than our fractionated laser skin resurfacing treatments.

Microdermabrasion

As its name suggests, microdermabrasion is a less invasive version of traditional dermabrasion. It was designed in Italy in 1985, but it wasn’t introduced in the US until 1996. Still, it quickly took off because it offers a quick and easy way to get rid of damaged skin at a more superficial level than original dermabrasion. It can be performed to varying degrees, but it generally requires little if any recovery time.

SilkPeel® Dermalinfusion®

Microdermabrasion mastered the art of minimally invasive resurfacing, so rather than making the procedure milder, SilkPeel®’s unique Dermalinfusion® process actually combines microdermabrasion with two other processes to make it more effective (though still maintaining the convenience of zero downtime). Dermalinfusion® combines gentle suction with a diamond-tipped wand to buff away damaged skin while also cleansing the skin of pore-clogging debris. During the same procedure, specialized topical medications are applied to this newly rejuvenated skin, amplifying the results and targeting your specific cosmetic concerns. This three-in-one process is what makes Dermalinfusion® the next step up from a typical microdermabrasion.

SilkPeel® has provided a gentle, painless, and convenient option for so many of our patients who want clearer, brighter, more youthful skin. Ultimately, though, every patient deserves a treatment that’s catered to their exact needs, and that’s why we always start with a personal consultation to discuss your cosmetic goals and customize a plan. Gentle Treatments to Dip Your Toes in the Cosmetic Pool

Uncategorized anti aging laser treatments Atlanta, facial rejuvenation atlanta, microdermabrasion Atlanta, photofacial Atlanta, skin care atlanta

At Laser Lights Cosmetic Laser Center, we deliver top-notch cosmetic care to all kinds of patients. Some of our regulars are true pros who have enjoyed just about every procedure under the sun, from anti-aging laser treatments to nonsurgical fat reduction. But we also work with plenty of patients who have never set foot into a med spa before. If that sounds like you, and you’re a tad intimidated by the unknown, it might be a good idea to start small with gentle, mild procedures. In that case, here are some you may want to consider:

SilkPeel® Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is nothing new—it essentially “buffs away” dead and damaged skin cells from the surface of your skin. But SilkPeel® has given the age-old favorite a new and exciting twist. This pain-free procedure combines microdermabrasion with gentle suction and a process called Dermalinfusion®, which infuses customized topical medications into your refreshed skin. These medications are based on your desired results: anti-aging, brightening, acne control, etc.

Fire and Ice Facial by iS Clinical®

The term “facial” can mean anything from a truly cleansing medical procedure to a simple face-washing and application of a couple of topical products that provide little benefit beyond relaxation. At Laser Lights, the facial we offer is truly results-focused. It uses two distinct steps – a Resurfacing Masque to clear away dead and damaged skin cells, followed by a Rejuvenating Masque to hydrate and revitalize the fresh skin. It may be a brief and gentle treatment, but the results speak for themselves, especially when this facial is part of a consistent skin care routine.

Phototherapy

Laser procedures can sound downright scary for someone who’s never tried them. If you want to start simple in the light therapy game, photofacial rejuvenation might be the right choice. It’s unique because it’s non-ablative, which means that the procedure doesn’t actually pierce the skin. Instead, it focuses on breaking up the pigments that form age spots, sun damage, and other issues on the face, hands, and nearly any other area of the body. For most patients, four to six sessions will do the trick.

More Tips for Beginners

Even if the mild procedures above aren’t focused on the cosmetic issues you want to address, our licensed and experienced medical aestheticians have a few tips to help you ease into the world of skin treatments:

Start with a small area. For instance, if you want laser hair removal, start with, say, your underarms or upper lip before committing to a larger area like the legs or back.
Be honest with your aesthetician. Tell them you’re a newbie, and communicate your concerns so they can tailor your treatment accordingly. They’re all about giving you the best possible experience, so let them.
If you’re concerned about discomfort, ask us about numbing as an option. We offer topical numbing cream that you can apply before your treatment to keep you comfortable.
Breathe and relax. Trust that you are in the qualified hands of someone who’s here to help you.

Cosmetic treatments don’t have to be stressful. Sure, the results are the main focus, but all of our aestheticians also know how important it is that you have a positive experience all the way around. That’s why they each let their natural joy and cheerfulness shine through in their work. If you’re ready to take the first step with a free skin treatment consultation, call Laser Lights Cosmetic Laser Center to get on the schedule. Quinceañera Beauty Tips

Uncategorized beauty tips for quinceañera, how to prepare for your quinceañera, microdermabrasion Atlanta, skin care atlanta, Skin care tips for teens

If you’re a parent whose daughter is getting ready for her quinceañera, you’re already aware of how much this event means to her. And of course, an important part of the equation is that she wants to look her best—and this goes much beyond finding that perfect dress. But when you’re looking for a pre-quinceañera beauty regimen, you need to keep in mind that her needs are different than the needs of an adult. So what can you do to bring out your teen’s true beauty?

Get serious about acne control.

On a regular basis, keeping acne at bay is usually minor enough to put in the hands of a drug store product or two. But when your daughter’s one and only quinceañera is on the horizon, she’ll want to be certain she’ll have a clear complexion for that day (and for all the photos she’ll be able to enjoy for decades to come). That’s a reason to step things up a notch. At Laser Lights Cosmetic Laser Center, we offer a variety of acne treatments for patients of all ages, and we can tailor a treatment plan and recommended products to your teen’s specific needs.

If you want to invest in laser hair removal, start early.

Many people use a special event as an opportunity to get laser hair removal. On top of giving you long-term hair reduction (such as for the underarms, a popular area for younger women and teen girls), the few hairs that may persist in the treated area will be finer and will grow more slowly, making them far lower-maintenance and easier to shave away intermittently. But a full laser hair removal cycle usually takes at least five months (five appointments, spaced 4-6 weeks apart), so getting your daughter’s treatments started early can leave her with smoother skin before the big day. But if the quinceañera is already less than five months away, don’t worry—you’ll see improvement with each session, so your daughter can at least see some amount of results if she can get in a few sessions.

Keep your daughter out of the tanning beds.

This tip is useful both for your daughter’s quinceañera look and for her long-term health as well. Getting a tan the old-fashioned way (either by laying out in the sun or by using a tanning bed) can lead to premature aging as well as skin cancer, not to mention that your daughter will risk having an uncomfortable and unattractive sunburn on her big day. Instead, if she wants a darker tone, try alternatives like airbrush tanning. Unlike a typical spray tan, our organic airbrush tan is applied by hand by a trained professional, and the brand we use at Laser Lights is actually all-natural as well, so it doesn’t use dyes or other artificial chemicals.

Give her a last-minute dose of brightening.

As a soon-to-be fifteen-year-old, your daughter doesn’t need the potentially lengthy facial rejuvenation process that women go through before their weddings or other major events to reduce signs of aging. But if she wants a little something to just brighten up and even out her complexion, SilkPeel® microdermabrasion treatments can be the perfect solution. As a gentle, deep-cleansing treatment, SilkPeel® can be performed just a day or two before the event in order to liven up your daughter’s complexion as well as to keep acne under control.

A quinceañera is such an important and memorable moment in a young girl’s life, and as a parent, you want it to be a time when your daughter truly feels beautiful and special. And planning ahead for an effective and age-appropriate beauty regimen can help you make that happen. To start planning for your daughter’s big day and discuss what our aestheticians would recommend for her specific needs, schedule a free consultation at Laser Lights Cosmetic Laser Center.
