The weather is cooling down, and as the days get shorter, you may be looking for something to give you that extra pop before the holidays arrive. Eyes are the first thing people tend to notice, and long, full lashes can help your eyes stand out.

At Laser Lights Cosmetic Laser Center we offer several treatments for eyelashes including Latisse® and eyelash tinting. Our licensed aestheticians can help you decide what option is best for you. If you are suffering from lack of fullness and/or length with your lashes, Latisse® may be helpful. Latisse® is the only FDA approved prescription treatment to help encourage growth of eyelashes. This treatment gradually increases lash volume and length with the added benefit of darkening lashes to provide a more youthful appearance. Full results occur after about 16 weeks of daily, topical use but results may be seen after four weeks. If you end treatment, lashes will eventually return to their former appearance.

Since eyelash treatments are very convenient, many patients schedule other facial cosmetic services to complement their eyelashes such as microdermabrasion, chemical peels, and facials. If you are interested in our eyelash services or other cosmetic skin services please call us today to schedule an appointment. Also be sure to connect with us on Facebook, Twitter, and Google + for the latest medical laser news and treatments.

Although we’re barely into March, this warm Atlanta weather has got the providers of Laser Lights dreaming about spring break already. Since spring break often entails a trip to the beach or lake, it is time to prepare yourself if you hope to take care of imperfections you may have been hiding all winter longer, like cellulite. These dimpled, shallow fat deposits are almost impossible to get rid of and are a cosmetic concern for most people. Fortunately, Laser Lights offers Viora Reaction™ cellulite reduction and skin tightening treatments.

Even though we’ve offered cellulite treatments like Endermologie®, Viora Reaction™ technology is in a class of its own. Through channeling optimized radiofrequency (CORE™ technology), Reaction™ uses three RF modes at once to boost circulation, reduce fat cell size, and stimulate lymphatic drainage. The fat cells begin to break down as deep tissue is heated, reducing cellulite as well as the circumference of the treatment area. Cellulite reduction patients will see results in just one treatment, but many receive 6 to 8 treatments for optimal results.

Reaction™ not only works for cellulite reduction, it also is a great anti-aging procedure for skin tightening. The RF energy heats the deep facial tissues to tighten skin, increase elasticity, and stimulate collagen production. Reaction™ can safely treat the forehead, cheeks, jowls, neck, and eye area for overall facial rejuvenation. Patients report tighter skin after just one session, but many pursue 3 to 5 treatments for optimal skin tightening results.

Because it’s best to reserve laser treatments for cooler months to avoid sun exposure during warmer months, now is a great time to schedule a laser service. We also have plenty of non-laser services to get you ready for spring. Our facials and chemical peels will help with a glowing, spring-like complexion, but if your complexion needs a little more of a boost to fight acne, you may want to try acne light therapy. Patients traveling to the beach who don’t want to worry about waterproof makeup may want to look into our eyelash and eyebrow tinting services. If you aren’t sure what treatment is right for you, schedule a consultation. Be sure to connect with us on Facebook and Twitter for skin care news, specials, and updates.

Q.) Why is eyelash tinting so popular during the summer?

A.) Typically, people who have light colored hair also have light eyelashes and eyebrows. Eyelash and brow tinting adds a darker pigment to the lashes and brows, providing a similar visual balance to that created by mascara, eyelash extensions, brow pencil, or other eye makeup. Eyelash and eyebrow tinting are especially popular during the summer months because makeup doesn’t always mix well with outdoor activities. Plus, one session can provide two to three months of tint.

Q.) How do I know which skin care products are right for me?

A.) With so many skin care products on the market, it’s difficult to know what will best address your specific skin condition. Not to mention, trying to find the right product can get expensive and frustrating after several failed attempts. For that reason, we offer a skin analysis service (pre-skin treatment consultation) to determine which products will best address your needs.

Q.) What’s the difference between a chemical peel and a facial?

A.) While both treatments correct skin imperfections, facials are typically much milder than chemical peels. During a chemical peel, chemical solutions are applied to the face to remove the damaged outer layer of skin. Although chemicals are used in some of our facial treatments, the chemicals used in a chemical peel treatment penetrate much deeper and produce visible peeling. Patients who have never had a chemical peel may want to start out with a facial or a light chemical peel.

Q.) Does Laser Lights offer any treatments to reduce acne?

A.) The treatment we suggest will depend on the severity of your acne. Microdermabrasion treatments, chemical peels, and the acne facial can help with milder forms of acne. Our acne light therapy uses light to kill the acne-causing bacteria typically associated with more severe cases. If you aren’t sure which treatment will best help improve your acne, schedule a pre-skin treatment consultation.

laser lights cosmetic laser center Although laser skin treatments can erase imperfections and produce healthy, beautiful skin, being exposed to the sun’s rays after laser treatment can cause unsightly hyperpigmentation. It’s important to employ proper laser after care; especially during the summer months. If you choose to have a laser procedure during the summer you should wear sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 and a zinc oxide base. You should follow these guidelines not only after laser treatment, but four to six weeks before and between laser treatments. If you anticipate spending a lot of time in the sun this summer, you may want to reserve laser procedures for the winter months and try one of our other non-laser procedures in the mean time.

One of our newest summer treatments is eyelash and eyebrow tinting. Great for patients with blonde or light colored hair, this treatment adds darker pigment to the eyelashes and brows for up to two or three months. That’s basically a whole summer free from applying mascara, eyelash extensions, or brow pencil. Plus, brow and lash tinting is easily combined with other Laser Lights’ treatments. Some patients, however, do not have thick or long enough eyelashes to benefit from tinting. These patients are better suited for Latisse® eyelash treatment, which helps eyelashes grow thicker, longer, and even darker.

Chemical peels, facials and microdermabrasion treatments are also great for the summer, but the 30 SPF sunscreen rule is still important with these treatments too.
