Birthmarks in the Spotlight: How Modern Laser Treatments Are Changing Skin Confidence

Birthmark Removal birthmark removal, cosmetic lasers, Duluth GA, hemangiomas, laser treatments, medical spa, Pigmented Birthmarks, port wine stains, skin rejuvenation, Vascular Birthmarks

three-women-behind-a-birthmark-heading-text Birthmarks are common, but that doesn’t mean people always feel comfortable with them. Some fade over time, while others become darker or more noticeable with age. For many patients, birthmark removal is less about perfection and more about feeling confident in their skin.

Thanks to modern cosmetic laser technology, many birthmarks can now be treated safely and effectively with minimal downtime. The first step is understanding the two main types of birthmarks: vascular and pigmented.

Vascular Birthmarks: Caused by Blood Vessels

Vascular birthmarks form from concentrated or abnormal blood vessels beneath the skin. They’re usually red, pink, purple, or bluish in color.

Port-Wine Stains: These flat reddish-purple marks are present at birth and often darken over time if untreated.

Hemangiomas: Often called “strawberry marks,” hemangiomas are raised red birthmarks caused by extra blood vessels. Some fade naturally, while others leave lingering discoloration.

Salmon Patches: Also known as “stork bites” or “angel kisses,” these pale pink marks commonly appear on the forehead, eyelids, or neck.

Because vascular birthmarks are linked to blood vessels, they often respond well to laser treatments designed to target redness.

Pigmented Birthmarks: Caused by Excess Pigment

Pigmented birthmarks occur when extra melanin creates darker patches in the skin.

Café-au-Lait Spots: These light-brown patches can appear anywhere on the body and are often treated for cosmetic reasons.

Congenital Moles: Present at birth, these moles vary in size and color and may become more textured over time.

Mongolian Spots: These bluish-gray patches are commonly found on the lower back and may persist into adulthood.

Pigmented birthmarks are typically treated with lasers that target excess pigment while leaving surrounding skin unharmed.

How Cosmetic Laser Treatments Help

Our selection of cosmetic laser treatments can be customized based on the type, depth, and color of the birthmark.

Vascular lasers target redness and visible blood vessels.
Pigment lasers break up excess melanin in darker birthmarks.
Some patients benefit from a combination of treatments.

Most patients need multiple sessions for best results, with improvement appearing gradually over time. Beyond cosmetic improvement, many patients enjoy feeling more comfortable without makeup or cover-ups.

Clearer Skin, Greater Confidence

Today’s laser technology has made birthmark treatment more precise and effective than ever before. Whether treating redness, discoloration, or pigmentation, cosmetic laser treatments can help patients achieve smoother, more even-looking skin—and renewed confidence along the way.

Laser Treatments to Help You Look Younger for the Holidays

Laser Skin Resurfacing Atlanta facial rejuvenation, blog, cosmetic lasers, facial rejuvenation, laser resufacing

The holiday season is on its way, and that means holiday parties, pictures with friends and family, and getting together with people you may not have seen since last year. As much fun as these traditions are every year, they’re even better if you don’t feel self-conscious about your appearance for all of those parties and pictures.

If you’d like to give your look a boost for this holiday season, especially if your aim is to reduce signs of aging, laser treatments may be able to help. Our team at Laser Lights Cosmetic Laser Center has the laser procedures that can give you the gift of a younger look this year.

Fractionated CO₂ Laser Skin Resurfacing

While we offer a variety of facial rejuvenation treatments, fractionated CO₂ laser skin resurfacing is our most comprehensive option. It improves wrinkles, fine lines, age spots, and even sagging skin as well as other cosmetic concerns like poor skin texture and acne scars.

During fractionated CO₂ laser skin resurfacing, we use an advanced type of laser that precisely removes damaged surface skin in an even arrangement of small spots. This creates exceptional skin rejuvenation throughout your face, giving you an overall brighter and younger look.

Keep in mind that it does take time for your skin to heal after this treatment. If you want your results to look their best by the holidays, it’s best to schedule your procedure as soon as possible.

Micro Fractionated CO₂ Resurfacing

If you like the idea of treating several signs of aging with one treatment but you don’t want the recovery time of fractionated CO₂ laser skin resurfacing, our micro fractionated CO₂ resurfacing may be the perfect fit. Also called a micro laser peel, this treatment is essentially a milder version of fractionated CO₂ laser skin resurfacing.

The effects of this treatment are similar to the results of a chemical peel because it lightly removes aged surface skin. It also stimulates your natural collagen production, giving you the combined effect of fewer fine lines and wrinkles, firmer skin, and smoother skin texture. All of this comes with significantly less recovery time than fractionated CO₂ laser skin resurfacing. In fact, it has earned the nickname of the “weekend peel” because if you schedule your treatment for a Thursday or Friday, you’ll likely be healed enough to return to work on Monday with little or no signs of the treatment.

Photo Rejuvenation

Both fractionated CO₂ laser skin resurfacing and micro fractionated laser resurfacing use ablative lasers, which means that they remove precise areas of surface skin. Photo rejuvenation, however, is unique because it is non-ablative, so there is no skin removal. Instead, this procedure sends pulses of laser light deeper into your skin.

As a result, photo rejuvenation gradually increases your collagen production over time, leading to fewer wrinkles and fine lines as well as firmer, more lifted skin. Photo rejuvenation can also lighten age spots and treat similar skin blemishes.

While there is generally no recovery time needed after photo rejuvenation, you will get better results from a series of up to six treatments. To maximize your results by the time the winter holidays arrive now is the time to start.

Giving Yourself the Pre-Holiday Gift of Laser Rejuvenation

Laser treatments are among the most effective ways to revitalize your appearance, so this year, use the upcoming holiday season as a reason to treat yourself to the brighter, more youthful look you want. You can even give this gift to a loved one with a Laser Lights gift card!

To find out which of these laser treatments (or any of our many other facial rejuvenation treatments) is the best fit for you, schedule a free consultation at Laser Lights Cosmetic Laser Center today. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram for more cosmetic skin treatment tips.

Are You Accidentally Making Your Acne Scars Worse?

Uncategorized acne, cosmetic lasers, pore extraction, scar treatment, skin care

Clear skin is a goal that most people are trying to achieve, but for acne sufferers there are more obstacles in the way. Our licensed and experienced estheticians at Laser Lights Cosmetic Laser Center treat many patients who have struggled with acne, but there might be things that you’re unintentionally doing that are making your scarring worse. We want to ensure that your skin is as healthy and beautiful as possible, so we’ve created a short list of what to avoid.

Sun Exposure: Even though it gives everyone life, the sun doesn’t extend the same courtesy to skin health and beauty. Prolonged sun-exposure leaves people vulnerable to UV rays, which can cause inflammation, redness and even discoloration on areas of acne or scarring. Too much sun exposure makes acne scars more noticeable and less likely to fade over time. We recommend that you wear sun-protective clothing and a wide brimmed hat, avoid long durations in direct sunlight, and use SPF 30 or higher on areas that are more sensitive to harm.

Picking acne: When a new pimple appears, it might be tempting to squeeze it and forcibly remove the blemish. However, this method creates or worsens scarring. Therefore, our estheticians at Laser Lights strongly urge you to not squeeze or pick your skin to get rid of acne. Pushing skin creases together to pop a pimple can move the contents inside the pimple deeper into the skin. If you do, you run the risk of developing permanent acne scarring, making it more noticeable or potentially causing an infection.

DIY skin clearing methods: Although we commend your initiative, using DIY (Do it yourself) methods to clear skin and fade scars is a risky endeavor. Licensed estheticians undergo rigorous training to understand the complex nature of the skin and develop the skillset to treat issues like acne scarring. The DIY options that you might find online or at the store are sometimes convenient, but not entirely reliable. It can be dangerous to trust internet publications that aren’t backed by a reputable organization.

If you’re interested in fading acne scarring, we offer advanced and customized cosmetic laser treatment at our facility. Our team is committed to bringing the best out of your skin whether it’s with treatments for active acne, pore extractions, or acne scar reduction. Patients who aren’t sure which type of treatment they need can visit our office for a complementary consultation to determine the best way that they can enhance their skin beauty and tone.

Redefine Your Age with Laser Lights’ Customized Age Spot Removal

Uncategorized age spot, cosmetic lasers, dark spot removal, hyperpigmentation, skin care

Age is only a number, but age spots can make you feel older than your years. You might be embarrassed by this type of blemish, but it’s an incredibly common symptom of aging skin. Laser Lights Cosmetic Laser Center specializes in age spot removal that improves the quality of skin tone and consistency, ultimately giving you more confidence in your look. We want to give you an inside look into how our experienced laser practitioners can redefine your age with assistance from our advanced cosmetic laser treatments.

Understanding why age spots appear on skin

Age spots, sometimes known as brown spots or liver spots, are small pigmented areas on the skin that tend to receive the most sunlight like the hands, face, chest, shoulders and arms. For most people, they begin to emerge in their 40s and 50s, after decades of sun exposure. Age spots form in response to overactive pigment cells, and the symptoms are accelerated by UV light. People who have had numerous instances of sunburn or have fair skin are more susceptible to age spots.

How Laser Lights can treat your age spots

The first step to attaining clear and consistent skin is a complimentary consultation at Laser Lights Cosmetic Laser Center. Our experienced team will be able to determine the correct treatment route to give you the best results possible. With advanced cosmetic lasers, one of our licensed laser technicians will target the age spots, freckles and other brown spots on the skin and deliver a customized and advanced treatment that fades them in just a few sessions.

For areas of hyperpigmentation, patients at Laser Lights have a series of personalized options that they can utilize to fade areas of discoloration. Your consultation will allow our providers to select a combination of the following treatments to accurately accomplish the goal of clear, consistent skin after a thorough skin analysis is completed.

DefenAge^® Skincare uses optimal ingredients to create comprehensive improvement to skin tone and quality. To fade hyperpigmentation, it’s gently applied to the targeted regions of the skin.
Skin Lightener, as the its name suggests, lightens darkened skin without damaging any surrounding tissue. The formula was specifically created for our patients at Laser Lights who need to fade areas of unwanted pigmentation.
Reveal Peel is a chemical that was specifically designed for effective skin renewal. It’s also one of the key steps in the hyperpigmentation treatment process. In addition to the advanced chemical peel, patents will also receive a post-operative peel kit that they can use at home to further refine the positive results.
Reveal Koji Pads are applied by patients at home for between 30 to 60 days to increase skin consistency and natural tone.
