The Use of Fractionated CO2 Laser as an Effective Alternative to Eyelid Surgery

Once reserved for eliminating wrinkles and scarring on the thicker skin of the forehead and cheeks, the Fractional CO2 Laser is now being used to effectively treat dark circles and sagging skin around the eyes.

As discussed in a previous post on Laser Light’s blog series, the Erbium Fractionated CO2 Laser has been proven successful in reducing the appearance of medium-depth wrinkles and superficial scars on the tissue of the face, chest, and hands.  Until now, sagging skin around the eyes and under the brows was typically remedied by a surgical blepharoplasty (eyelid lift) procedure.  The Erbium Fractional CO2 Laser works without surgery to rejuvenate the eye area by penetrating the first layers of the dermis with pulsed columns of light.  The columns create tiny wounds that the body then “heals” by generating collagen and elastin that re-plump the treated area and result in a more youthful, lifted appearance.  In addition, the Erbium Fractionated C02 Laser also reduces the appearance of dark circles underneath the eye.

Often used in conjunction with Laser Resurfacing treatments like Erbium Fractionated CO2 Laser Treatments, Co-Medical Director of Laser Lights Dr. David Whiteman also offers the cosmetic injectables Juvederm® and Restylane® to restore youthful volume and decrease facial wrinkles.  If you would like to learn more about Laser Lights other lasers and treatments call (770) 495-9322.
