Cellulite is arguably one of the most frustrating cosmetic problems around for most women and some men, simply because there’s not much you can do for it on your own. Most people see weight loss as a go-to strategy for getting rid of their “cottage cheese,” and while we’re always advocates for a healthy lifestyle, the reality is that weight loss and even exercise will have little if any impact on cellulite. If you’re truly ready to trade in your cellulite for smoother skin, it’s time to bring in a professional, and between Laser Lights Cosmetic Laser Center and our parent practice, Southern Plastic Surgery, we have two effective treatments to offer.
As medical research has shown, cellulite is a complex web of contributing factors. So before you go wasting your hard-earned cash on one “cellulite cream” after another, schedule a consultation at Laser Lights to talk about a more proven, lasting solution with Cellulaze™, Viora Reaction™, or both. Or, for more cosmetic treatment tips and to hear about all our current special offers, follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Google+.
Although we’re barely into March, this warm Atlanta weather has got the providers of Laser Lights dreaming about spring break already. Since spring break often entails a trip to the beach or lake, it is time to prepare yourself if you hope to take care of imperfections you may have been hiding all winter longer, like cellulite. These dimpled, shallow fat deposits are almost impossible to get rid of and are a cosmetic concern for most people. Fortunately, Laser Lights offers Viora Reaction™ cellulite reduction and skin tightening treatments.
Even though we’ve offered cellulite treatments like Endermologie®, Viora Reaction™ technology is in a class of its own. Through channeling optimized radiofrequency (CORE™ technology), Reaction™ uses three RF modes at once to boost circulation, reduce fat cell size, and stimulate lymphatic drainage. The fat cells begin to break down as deep tissue is heated, reducing cellulite as well as the circumference of the treatment area. Cellulite reduction patients will see results in just one treatment, but many receive 6 to 8 treatments for optimal results.
Reaction™ not only works for cellulite reduction, it also is a great anti-aging procedure for skin tightening. The RF energy heats the deep facial tissues to tighten skin, increase elasticity, and stimulate collagen production. Reaction™ can safely treat the forehead, cheeks, jowls, neck, and eye area for overall facial rejuvenation. Patients report tighter skin after just one session, but many pursue 3 to 5 treatments for optimal skin tightening results.
Because it’s best to reserve laser treatments for cooler months to avoid sun exposure during warmer months, now is a great time to schedule a laser service. We also have plenty of non-laser services to get you ready for spring. Our facials and chemical peels will help with a glowing, spring-like complexion, but if your complexion needs a little more of a boost to fight acne, you may want to try acne light therapy. Patients traveling to the beach who don’t want to worry about waterproof makeup may want to look into our eyelash and eyebrow tinting services. If you aren’t sure what treatment is right for you, schedule a consultation. Be sure to connect with us on Facebook and Twitter for skin care news, specials, and updates.
The most common misconception about body contouring procedures is that they are all designed to get rid of fat and cellulite. Truth is, fat and cellulite are two entirely different animals. We all know excess fat (i.e.- inflated fat cells that sit beneath the skin) can create a disproportionate silhouette. What isn’t as widely understood is that cellulite is not caused by excess fat. In fact, there are many thin patients who have cellulite. This condition is caused by deviations in skin thickness and fat deposit concentration. In patients who exhibit cellulite, the connective collagen fibers just underneath the skin are pushed and pulled by fat (even a very small amount) creating an uneven skin surface texture.
Laser Lights Cosmetic Laser Center offers its Duluth and Atlanta area body smoothing patients Viora Reaction™ to reduce the appearance of cellulite. Using the power of radiofrequency (RF) and controlled suction, application of the Reaction™ hand piece helps to increase circulation and decrease the appearance of cellulite in the treatment area(s). Because this minimally invasive procedure does not physically alter the substructure of the dermis, follow up sessions (typically six to eight) are needed to produce maximum cellulite reduction results.

In our previous posts, Laser Lights discussed what cellulite is and the debated factors that might cause its appearance. This week we’ll talk about ways to prevent cellulite and, ultimately, methods of removal.
Preventing cellulite is an on-going process. Eating right (foods low in fat, plenty of fruits and veggies and fiber), regular exercise and maintaining a healthy body weight, or stress reduction are common lifestyle recommendations for the prevention of cellulite. Underwear without tight elastic bands (thongs, boyshorts, looser undergarments) may also help keep cellulite production at bay.
However, sometimes cellulite is inevitable and you need to find a means to remove it. At Laser Lights Cosmetic Laser Center, we offer our Viora Reaction™ treatment to remove cellulite and bring back your skin’s elasticity.
Other options you could seek out include massages, heat therapy, compression garments, or drugs targeting fatty tissues, though none of these are clinically proven as effective options.

The term gets tossed around often enough, but what exactly is cellulite? It goes by many less pleasant titles, such as cottage cheese skin, hail damage, and the mattress phenomenon – which give a little more insight into the condition than you may think. Fat deposits just below the surface of the skin give it a dimpled appearance – this appearance is what we call cellulite and it most often appears after puberty around the abdomen, lower limbs, and pelvic region.
Cellulite is classified in 3 different grades of severity. Grade 1 has no clinical symptoms but anatomical changes can be spotted via microscopic examination of cells. Grade 2 is the most common grade: visible dimpling occurs along with a more pallid skin tone, lowered skin elasticity and an overall cooler temperature. Grade 3 is more of an advanced Grade 2 – the dimpling becomes so severe the skin becomes rough like an orange peel.
We hope the next few posts will prove educational and beneficial for you! Should you like to try our Viora Reaction™ treatment, which is a radiofrequency treatment aimed at minimizing the appearance of cellulite-related dimples, call us today at 770-495-9322 to schedule an appointment.
