The Latest in Microdermabrasion

Uncategorized Atlanta microdermabrasion, how is silkpeel different than microdermabrasion, microdermabrasion Atlanta, what is Dermalinfusion, what is the best microdermabrasion treatment

The field of cosmetic skin care is constantly changing thanks to new medical and technological advancements, and at Laser Lights Cosmetic Laser Center, we pride ourselves on offering our patients the latest and greatest. In fact, one of our most popular treatments is the latest twist on a long-time patient favorite: microdermabrasion. The procedure we offer is called SilkPeel® Dermalinfusion®, and after offering this treatment for over three years, we can testify to its effectiveness for age spots, acne, fine lines and wrinkles, and just overall complexion. To give you a better idea of what Dermalinfusion® is and how it’s evolved from microdermabrasion and even earlier, here are a few fun facts about its history.

Dermabrasion

All the procedures in this blog use the same general process: manually exfoliating damaged skin cells from the surface of your skin in order to allow the younger, fresher skin beneath to shin through. This originally began as dermabrasion (“abrading” away the top layer of skin) in the early 1900s. Original dermabrasion is a rather significant treatment that requires local anesthesia and can take around 7-10 to recover from – an even longer recovery time than our fractionated laser skin resurfacing treatments.

Microdermabrasion

As its name suggests, microdermabrasion is a less invasive version of traditional dermabrasion. It was designed in Italy in 1985, but it wasn’t introduced in the US until 1996. Still, it quickly took off because it offers a quick and easy way to get rid of damaged skin at a more superficial level than original dermabrasion. It can be performed to varying degrees, but it generally requires little if any recovery time.

SilkPeel® Dermalinfusion®

Microdermabrasion mastered the art of minimally invasive resurfacing, so rather than making the procedure milder, SilkPeel®’s unique Dermalinfusion® process actually combines microdermabrasion with two other processes to make it more effective (though still maintaining the convenience of zero downtime). Dermalinfusion® combines gentle suction with a diamond-tipped wand to buff away damaged skin while also cleansing the skin of pore-clogging debris. During the same procedure, specialized topical medications are applied to this newly rejuvenated skin, amplifying the results and targeting your specific cosmetic concerns. This three-in-one process is what makes Dermalinfusion® the next step up from a typical microdermabrasion.

SilkPeel® has provided a gentle, painless, and convenient option for so many of our patients who want clearer, brighter, more youthful skin. Ultimately, though, every patient deserves a treatment that’s catered to their exact needs, and that’s why we always start with a personal consultation to discuss your cosmetic goals and customize a plan. What is the Difference between a Fire and Ice Facial, SilkPeel®, and a Chemical Peel?

Uncategorized Atlanta microdermabrasion, chemical peels atlanta, facial rejuvenation atlanta, facials Atlanta, Vi Peel Atlanta

In this age of modern medicine, researchers have developed countless cosmetic treatments that can address nearly any aesthetic concern, from helping to reduce wrinkles to minimizing excess fat. But as much as our patients at Laser Lights Cosmetic Laser Center love having options, it’s easy to become overwhelmed by the sheer number of choices, and to struggle to understand the differences between them. That’s where we come in. Our licensed and experienced medical aestheticians know everything there is to know about the procedures we offer, and they’re here to recommend the ideal treatment for your specific needs. To give you a little extra help, we’re breaking down the similarities and differences between three commonly confused procedures: chemical peels, the Fire and Ice Facial, and SilkPeel® microdermabrasion.

What They Do

The largest similarity between these three procedures is actually what aesthetic concerns they treat. Primarily, they target common problems like fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, acne scars, and general issues with skin texture or overall complexion. In some cases, they can actually help to manage acne as well.

How They Work

All three of these treatments use exfoliation (removing damaged surface skin cells), but they all do it in a slightly different way. Vi Peel® and other chemical peels do exactly what their name suggests—a specific chemical is applied to the skin to reach a specified depth, signaling your body’s healing process to get rid of the damaged surface skin (which also rebuilds skin-firming collagen, too). The actual exfoliation happens in the form of peeling over the course of a few days after your treatment. Depending on the results you want to achieve, we’ll customize the intensity of your chemical peel.

SilkPeel®, on the other hand, gets rid of damaged skin using manual exfoliation instead—but there’s a twist. The treatment combines microdermabrasion (“buffing away” damaged skin cells) with gentle suction (to remove dead skin cells and pore-clogging debris). At the same time, it’s applying a customized topical solution tailored to your desired results. This unique process, called Dermalinfusion®, allows the topical medication to reach deeper into the skin for highly effective results.

Last but not least, the Fire and Ice Facial is a specialized process developed by esteemed skin care line iS Clinical®. It uses two distinct masks—the Intensive Resurfacing Masque (to exfoliate) followed by the Rejuvenating Masque (to hydrate and enhance your results).

How Intense They Are

SilkPeel® microdermabrasion in particular is a very gentle, easy procedure. The Fire and Ice Facial and chemical peels, uniquely, can be tailored to the mildness or effectiveness that you need. Our licensed and experienced aestheticians can adjust the specific formulas they use and the amount of time they allow the formula to exfoliate based on your aesthetic goals. As a result, all of these treatments involve little or no recovery time.

Who They Can Help

With their gentleness and customizability, these three procedures can be a great fit for nearly any patient. Because they do not involve lasers, they don’t carry as many risks for patients with darker skin as lasers do (although you do need to be cautious to protect your refreshed skin from the sun). Even those with sensitive skin may be able to receive SilkPeel®, the Fire and Ice Facial, or a chemical peel if our aesthetician adjusts their procedure accordingly.

It goes without saying that everyone wants to get the best results they can out of their cosmetic treatments. After all, if you’re taking the time to have the procedure, you might as well get as much from it as you can, right? And the first step toward loving your results is actually figuring out the right treatment in the first place. To get started, schedule a free consultation at Laser Lights Cosmetic Laser Center. Valentine’s Day is all about making time for your significant other and anyone else who is a meaningful part of your life. But whether you’re enjoying blissful coupledom or loving the single life, this month’s special offers at Laser Lights Cosmetic Laser Center can save you some serious cash.

Liposuction OR SculpSure® Non-Surgical Fat Reduction

Excess fat is one of the most common cosmetic complaints around, and while weight loss will reduce your overall amount of fat, there are only two ways to achieve the more precise and targeted contouring many patients need: surgical liposuction or high-tech non-surgical fat reduction treatments. This month, you can save regardless of whether you opt for liposuction with double board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. David Whiteman at Southern Plastic Surgery, or SculpSure® non-invasive fat reduction at Laser Lights. For all the details, check out our “Share the Love, Not the Love Handles” flyer.

Laser Hair Removal

Who wouldn’t want to spend less time on the tedious task of shaving? Laser hair removal can offer long-lasting results for nearly any area of the body, and this month, just purchase a package of treatments for your lower legs or your upper back to receive over $200 toward your next package (see flyer for details).

SilkPeel® Microdermabrasion

If you’re looking for a gentle and easy treatment to improve your acne, dull or uneven complexion, or early signs of aging, look no further! SilkPeel® adds a new twist onto one of the staples of the skin care world – microdermabrasion – by combining exfoliation, deep cleansing, and the application of customized, medical-grade topical products to offer exceptional results. This month, save $65 when you purchase two SilkPeel® microdermabrasion treatments, whether they’re both for you or you’re sharing them with a friend or a significant other.

Laser Tattoo Removal

Tattoos can be a beautiful form of self-expression, but for someone who no longer feels that their tattoo represents who they are, the permanence of a tattoo makes it feel like a true burden. But this month, show yourself and/or a loved one the light at the end of the tunnel with spectacular savings on both individual treatments AND packages for laser tattoo removal.

Fractionated CO2 Laser Skin Resurfacing

There may not be a better multi-tasking cosmetic treatment than fractional laser skin resurfacing. With just one procedure, you can significantly reduce fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, skin laxity, scars, and a number of other aesthetic concerns. And this February is the perfect time because, on top of winter being the ideal season for laser treatments, you can cash in on huge savings by purchasing two fractionated laser skin resurfacing sessions, whether you’re doubling down for yourself or giving one to a loved one.

All of us have aspects of our appearance we aren’t thrilled with, but thanks to modern medicine and our team of licensed, skilled, and experienced providers at Laser Lights, many of these issues can be improved in a simple and effective way. Staff Product Pick of the Month: Revision® Finishing Touch Microdermabrasion Scrub

Uncategorized Atlanta acne treatments, Atlanta microdermabrasion, best skin care for acne, skin care atlanta, skincare tips

For most people, trying to find the right skin care products for their needs is like trying to find a needle in a haystack…without knowing what a needle looks like. At Laser Lights Cosmetic Laser Center, it’s our goal to not only offer the professional treatments that can help you have the best skin of your life, but to also help you better understand your own skin and how you can keep it looking healthy and beautiful. As part of this mission, our experienced staff is choosing one skin care product each month to highlight, and this November, laser specialist Christine has chosen Revision® Finishing Touch Microdermabrasion Scrub.

What is Revision®’s Finishing Touch Microdermabrasion Scrub?

This product provides a crucial step in any skin care routine: exfoliation. While using a gentle cleanser twice per day is important, exfoliation offers a deeper clean by buffing away dead skin cells, oils, dirt, and other irritants that hold back your skin. The result is smoother, softer skin which is less likely to develop acne or a dull complexion.

How does Revision® Finishing Touch Microdermabrasion Scrub work?

There is no shortage of exfoliation products on the market, but the key to this one’s success is in the unique ingredients. The combination of natural Polynesian Black Sand and ultrafine Pumice effectively clear away debris from the skin’s surface, while other ingredients like volcanic sand and shea butter nourish and hydrate the refreshed skin.

It’s important to note that exfoliation should not be done every day, as this can deplete your skin of vital nutrients and ultimately do more harm than good. As Christine explains, “You want to avoid using this product excessively for risk of breaking the pH balance of the skin, so it should be used twice per week at the most.”

Who can use Revision®’s Finishing Touch Microdermabrasion Scrub?

Nearly everyone can benefit from regular exfoliation, and this product is specifically ideal for people with normal, combination, oily, or mature skin types. As Christine explains, it’s particularly helpful for patients who are prone to acne due to oily skin and clogged pores. These issues can affect far more people than the stereotypical teenage acne patient, so the best way to address acne is often a combination of a carefully tailored skin care regimen and regular SilkPeel® microdermabrasion treatments, facials, or other treatments designed for acne control.

We hate to break it to you, but no skin care plan is one-size-fits-all. Revision®’s Finishing Touch Microdermabrasion Scrub can be a highly successful product for many patients, but it’s only one piece of the puzzle. To get the best possible results, you need to pair it with the right cleanser, the right moisturizer, and other products that fit your skin’s needs. To discuss the treatments and products which are ideal for your skin’s unique properties and cosmetic hurdles, schedule a complimentary skin analysis and consultation at Laser Lights. Anyone who suffers from acne knows what a frustratingly delicate condition it is. You could spend weeks taking diligent steps and getting your skin clear, but slacking on your skin care for just a day or two can launch you into a full-scale breakout. Or, even worse, breakouts can happen out of the blue for no discernible reason. But the good news is that our licensed and experienced professionals at Laser Lights Cosmetic Laser Center have plenty of tricks up their sleeves to tame your acne, whether it’s a few pimples here and there or a more extensive problem. In fact, to save you some cash and offer you a more comprehensive solution, we’ve put together a package of professional services and skin care products designed specifically to get and keep your acne under control.

Acne Treatments: SilkPeel® Microdermabrasion, Acne Facial, and Pore Extraction

In a weight loss program, you first focus on reaching your goal weight, then you focus on maintaining your results, and acne control takes a similar path. At Laser Lights, our first step is a comprehensive treatment which deep cleans your skin and tackles the most common culprits. During this session, our licensed aesthetician will combine our acne facial with SilkPeel®, a new twist on microdermabrasion which gently exfoliates away the dead skin cells and other debris which can clog pores and irritate acne, all while introducing specialized topical medications designed specifically for acne. Pore extractions are performed during this session as well, to manually clear any stubborn clogged pores.

Skin Care Products

Our acne treatment can provide great results in one fell swoop, but keeping up with the right skin care regimen is the only way to maintain your results. No need to navigate the acne aisle of the drug store, though, because our licensed aestheticians can recommend the products which are ideally suited for your unique skin type, and our new acne packages include two items which have proven highly effective for soothing acne—Exfoliating Facial Wash and Brightening Facial Rinse, both from Revision®’s line of professional-quality products.

Just because acne is common doesn’t mean it’s simple. In fact, it can be a very complex and tricky condition, so don’t waste time and money trying to find the perfect combination of skincare products from the drug store. If you want to feel confident in your skin’s appearance once again, it’s worth getting the help of a professional. To get started, schedule a consultation at Laser Lights Cosmetic Laser Center.
