It’s been quite a monumental year for all of us at Laser Lights Cosmetic Laser Center. The holidays are a perfect time to reflect back on the past year. Cherish the memories we’ve made, and feel grateful for both the big blessings in our lives and the little things that make us smile. In case you’re a recent addition to our Laser Lights family, or you’ve just been busy throughout the year and haven’t had time to keep up with all the changes, here are some of the highlights.

New Management & New Staff Members

Our biggest news of the year is that Laser Lights has now fully merged with Dr. David Whiteman’s Southern Plastic Surgery practice! As a double board-certified plastic surgeon with a surgical practice less than a mile from our door, Dr. Whiteman is dedicated to helping Laser Lights truly be the best we can be. Along with Dr. Whiteman himself, we also welcomed several new staff members this year: all of whom bring a wealth of experience, expertise, and passion for patient care.

SculpSure® Non-Surgical Fat Reduction

This year, we brought in our first true non-surgical fat reduction technology. SculpSure® is the most advanced treatment of its kind, which can produce up to a 24% reduction in fat in the treated area after just one 25-minute session.

Microneedling

Microneedling with Réjuvapen® has become highly popular at Laser Lights because of its brief recovery period and its ability to address several cosmetic concerns at once, like fine lines, wrinkles, skin laxity, acne scars, and overall complexion.

Revision® and B’Tyli Skincare Products

To help patients make the most of all the cosmetic procedures we offer, our front desk is stocked with a wide variety of skin care products, and this year we were proud to add two more high-quality skin care lines: Revision®, a professional brand offered only in physicians’ offices and medical facilities, and B’Tyli, a line of highly natural and organic products.

Atlanta’s Best Laser Hair Removal

Last but not least, this October we were thrilled to receive the title of Atlanta’s Best Laser Hair Removal in Best Self’s 2016 contest. Each year, the magazine invites their readers and other Atlanta residents to nominate and vote for their favorites in over 100 different health and wellness-related categories, from bike shops to facials. Thank you to everyone who voted and named Laser Lights as the best facility for laser hair removal in metro Atlanta!

Airbrush Tanning

We’re all about maintaining not only the beauty of your skin but the health of it too. So, to give patients an alternative to dangerous tanning practices, this year we introduced professional airbrush tans, administered by a licensed aesthetician with over eight years of experience who can tailor it to the color you want.

It’s certainly been a whirlwind year at Laser Lights, from new management and staff members to half a dozen new services, products, packages, and products to an exciting award from our own patients. At the end of the day, it’s because of all our fantastic patients like you that we’re able to keep innovating and expanding. So, from our family to yours, thank you for your patronage and we look forward to continuing to work with you all in 2017 and beyond.

Ten Facts about Laser Hair Removal

Uncategorized atlanta laser center, atlanta laser hair removal, laser hair removal atlanta, laser treatments Atlanta, skin care atlanta

Shaving is one of the few aesthetic rituals that nearly all of us do on a regular basis—young and old, man and woman, low-maintenance and beauty enthusiast. But as common as it may be, it’s not particularly enjoyable, nor are the side effects that come with it, like nicks and razor burn. That’s why medical researchers have graced us with laser hair removal as a way of achieving long-term hair reduction. But how much do you really know? The laser hair removal facts can help you learn more about one of our most popular treatments at Laser Lights Cosmetic Laser Center.

You can get laser hair removal for nearly any area of the body.

People most commonly think of hair removal as being used for the areas we shave most often, like the face, legs and underarms, but it can also relieve you of hair between and around your eyebrows, on your upper lip, back, throughout the full beard, bikini area, and nearly anywhere else down to your toes.

Laser hair removal is becoming more and more popular.

According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, there were more than 1.1 million laser hair removal procedures in the US last year. That’s over 37% more than in the previous year, and ten times as many as were performed in 1998 (when ASAPS began tracking the data).

The laser actually uses the hair as a means of transportation.

The type of laser we use for this particular laser treatment is attracted to the pigment in your individual hairs, so it concentrates all the energy into the hair. As a result, it travels down the hair to reach the follicle. This damages the individual follicles and hinders their ability to grow hair in the future.

It takes several treatments to see results from laser hair removal.

Each of your hairs grows in a three-part cycle with a growth phase, a dormant phase, and a shedding phase, and the hairs’ cycles don’t all match up. Laser hair removal only works on hairs that are in the growth phase, so several treatments are needed in order to catch the growth phase in as many hairs as possible. For most patients, a series of around six treatments will get the best results, but it varies from one person to the next.

Laser hair removal shouldn’t be performed by just anyone.

It may be cosmetic, but laser hair removal is a medical procedure, so you should only trust someone who is specifically licensed to perform the treatment and who has plenty of experience doing so. A qualified medical professional can also have access to more effective and precise equipment and will know how to tailor it for your skin type and hair color. All of this is important in both seeing results and reducing the risk of complications.

You should shave the day before or the day of your appointment, but avoid waxing and plucking for several weeks beforehand.

Being clean-shaven at your appointment leaves enough hair for the laser to latch onto, but not so much that it causes burns by reaching hair on the skin’s surface. On the other hand, waxing and plucking (or any other method that pulls the hair rather than cutting it) can leave you without enough hair to attract the laser.

Don’t trust a promise of full, permanent hair removal.

The reality is that everyone’s body responds differently to any cosmetic treatment or medical procedure. Your results are expected to be successful, but keep in mind that you may have a few remaining stubborn hairs and that you will likely need a maintenance treatment approximately every year to refresh your results.

Laser hair removal can be a real time-saver.

Patients tend to think laser hair removal is time-consuming, but that’s not really true. It all depends on the area you’re treating. Larger areas, like the full legs or the back, can take an hour or so per session, but smaller areas like the underarms can be treated in just a few minutes. Compare that to all the time you spend shaving thoroughly on a regular basis, and those extra minutes really add up!

Laser hair removal isn’t for everyone.

Certain skin tones and hair colors are more suited for this procedure than others. For instance, light hairs (blond, red, and gray or white) generally don’t have enough pigments to attract the laser effectively. Our licensed and experienced laser technicians will be able to evaluate your skin and hair to determine what kind of results you can expect.

Laser hair removal isn’t as painful as you might think.

People hear the word “laser” and immediately think the procedure will be painful. Everyone registers discomfort differently, but most patients compare it to a light rubber band snap, while some say it’s even milder. If you’re concerned about being comfortable, we do offer a numbing cream that you can apply before your treatment as well.

Blogs like this can be a great crash course in the skin treatments available today thanks to modern cosmetic medicine. But the only way to know which options are truly suitable for your skin type and aesthetic concerns is to schedule a consultation at Laser Lights Cosmetic Laser Center. Viora Reaction® Skin Tightening & Cellulite Reduction

As a highly versatile yet entirely non-invasive treatment, Viora Reaction® skin tightening can take years off your face by firming your skin, OR it can be used on your abdomen, thighs, buttocks, or other areas to tone the skin and reduce cellulite.

Meet Our Patients

Uncategorized atlanta laser center, cellulaze Atlanta, cellulite reduction Atlanta, laser hair removal duluth ga, Viora reaction skin tightening Atlanta

We’re making across-the-board improvements with our new ownership, new management, and new staff at Laser Lights Cosmetic Laser Center, but our licensed and skilled providers have all spent more than enough years performing cosmetic treatments to understand both the nerves and the excitement that most of our patients experience before their procedures. You may be thrilled to be taking a step toward a refreshed appearance and less self-consciousness, but you’re probably also feeling the apprehension that’s typical before any medical procedure. To help put your mind at ease, some of our patients have left some insights into their experiences.

“P”: Viora Reaction™ Skin Tightening Patient

“P” had been considering non-surgical skin firming for quite some time, but she was nervous about the treatment itself and whether her results would truly be as strong as she hoped and meet her expectations. Remembering her experience, she says:

I was very skeptical at first about skin tightening because I was worried about the laser burning my skin. I ended up receiving the Viora Reaction treatment with this company. My esthetician explained everything to me and wasn’t at all bothered by my lack of knowledge. I had the best results ever with just 8 skin tightening treatments. My stomach is now 80% tighter and more firm. I am soooo pleased with my results. I can’t stop looking at my stomach. The staff was amazing; they were very friendly and professional as well. Above all, the prices were the best that I had ever seen while researching. Do yourself a favor and go visit them for yourself. You will be happy you did.

“JH”: Cellulaze™ Cellulite Reduction Patient

“JH” visited our parent practice, Southern Plastic Surgery, for one of our newest and most advanced procedures, called Cellulaze™, in conjunction with her Viora Reaction™ treatments with us. Cellulaze™ directly treats stubborn cellulite by addressing all three causes from within: rigid connective tissue, excess fat beneath the skin, and thinning skin. Viora Reaction™ is a perfect complement to Cellulaze™ because it helps the skin become firmer, smoother, and more youthful. Here’s what she had to say about her experience:

Cellulaze™ cellulite treatment worked wonders for my stubborn cellulite. I work out and eat healthy but couldn’t get rid of it. I had the treatment on Friday and was at work on Monday. I also had a couple of Viora skin tightening treatments to ensure the success of the Cellulaze™ and could not be more thrilled with my results. Dr. Whiteman and his staff always go above and beyond to make me feel welcome and comfortable.

“K”: Patient for Multiple Laser Treatments

Like most of us, “K” had several cosmetic concerns—specifically unwanted hair, spider veins, and freckles. She’d had some negative experiences at other facilities in the past, but was looking for a trustworthy and friendly laser center she could rely on for all her aesthetic needs. Here’s what she found at Laser Lights:

After a lot of research I opted to go to Laser Lights for laser hair removal, spider vein treatment (legs, nose, & face), and freckle removal. It has been less than two weeks since my first treatment. Most of my spider veins disappeared within 24-48 hrs. My freckles turned dark brown and are literally falling off leaving beautifully clear skin. The hair removal process was a little uncomfortable but took very little time and I am thoroughly pleased with the results of my first treatment. I still have a few follow up treatments for various services but I already feel better about the appearance of my skin. I tried spider vein treatment at another place several years ago and it was overpriced and did not work. I was reluctant to try again but my fears were unfounded. Laser Lights has the right equipment and a wonderful staff. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Every patient’s experience is unique, but they all start out the same way—with a complimentary consultation where one of our licensed and experienced providers will listen to your concerns and help you design a plan to reach all your aesthetic goals. To get started, schedule your consultation at either Laser Lights or Southern Plastic Surgery. Myths & Facts about Laser Treatments

Uncategorized Atlanta facial rejuvenation, atlanta laser center, Atlanta laser skin treatments, laser hair removal atlanta, laser tattoo removal Atlanta

Laser treatments are often seen as a hallmark of modern technology, and at Laser Lights Cosmetic Laser Center, we can certainly attest to the fantastic results they’re capable of. But we’ve noticed that for many people, medical lasers still seem like a mysterious and not fully understood frontier, and this has given rise to myths and rumors galore, which can actually stop patients from seeking the treatments that could make a world of difference in their self-confidence. To set the record straight, we’re addressing some of the most common laser myths floating around.

Myth: Darker-skinned people can’t get laser treatments.

While your skin tone does affect the details of your laser procedure, many modern lasers have adjustable settings so they can be tailored to all or nearly all skin types. There are rare cases when the risks of side effects are too high, which is why it’s important to look for an experienced cosmetic laser treatment provider who can offer you a true recommendation.

Myth: Lasers provide instant results.

This truly depends on the laser and the procedure, but most laser treatments work with your body’s natural processes, which means it can take time for your full results to appear.

Myth: Laser skin resurfacing leaves a clear line where the treatment stops.

To give the rumor mill some credit, this was true with earlier CO2 laser technology, but most providers today (including us at Laser Lights) use fractionated CO2 lasers for skin resurfacing. This means they create tiny treatment zones for an overall rejuvenation with less healing time, exceptional results, and no “line of demarcation.”

Myth: Laser treatments require a lot of recovery time.

“Laser treatments” is a broad term, because lasers can be used for anything from laser hair removal to extensive exfoliation to scar repair. The recovery time will depend on your specific procedure, and while some do require downtime, others will allow you to immediately return to your daily activities.

Myth: Lasers can only improve the surface of the skin.

One of the factors that makes one laser different from another is the wavelength of light they use. Each laser is designed to focus on different cosmetic concerns, so while some are perfect for surface imperfections, others can go deeper to impact the blood vessels (such as in spider vein reduction and rosacea treatments) or even unwanted fat (such as in SculpSure™ non-invasive fat reduction).

Myth: Lasers can extract tattoo ink.

It’s true that lasers are the most effective way to remove a tattoo, but instead of pulling the ink up through the laser beam in a “Beam me up, Scotty!” fashion, the laser actually breaks up the ink into particles that are small enough for the body to absorb and eliminate.

Myth: Lasers can cause cancer by emitting radiation.

This is probably the scariest rumor floating around, but rest assured that your laser treatments won’t give you cancer. The wavelengths used in a cosmetic laser treatment are limited to a “safe zone” so they do not emit any radiation.

Myth: Laser treatments are too expensive.

Of course, “expensive” is relative to each person and their own budget, but laser treatments are actually more affordable than most patients think, especially when compared to the alternatives (for instance, add up how much money you’ll spend on shaving or waxing for the next several decades and compare that to the cost of laser hair removal, or compare SculpSure™ fat reduction to surgical liposuction). At Laser Lights, we also have financing available through CareCredit® so you can pay off your treatments at a slower pace.

The bottom line is that if you want to know the real deal about laser treatments, ask an expert like our licensed and experienced laser technicians. In particular, look for a facility associated with the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS), of which our owner Dr. David Whiteman is a proud member. To find out more about the laser treatments you may be a candidate for, schedule a complimentary consultation at Laser Lights Cosmetic Laser Center.
