What’s the Difference Between a Spa Facial and a Facial at Laser Lights?

Uncategorized anti aging facials Atlanta, atlanta facials, do facials really work, facial rejuvenation atlanta, professional facials in Atlanta

If you’re heading out for a spa day, a facial is probably near the top of your list. But as you may have noticed, our licensed medical aestheticians at Laser Lights Cosmetic Laser Center offer facials as well. So which one is the better choice? They’re actually quite different, so it all boils down to what you’re looking for. The key difference between a spa facial and a Laser Lights facial is this: spas focus on refreshment and relaxation, while we focus on results.

What’s the Difference Between a Spa Facial and a Facial at Laser Lights

The Typical Spa Facial

At a day spa, their main goal is to help you relax and feel rejuvenated, and that’s how they design their facials. Most will include cleansing your skin, massaging your skin, and applying a few different products like an exfoliator, a face mask, and a moisturizer. Guests typically walk away feeling pampered, relaxed, and refreshed, but there aren’t generally any long-term improvements to the skin. The products and techniques are all things you could use at home to have the same aesthetic effect. There’s nothing wrong with spa facials, but you should purchase them primarily for the experience and the enjoyment you get rather than purchasing them with the assumption that you will improve your skin.

The iS Clinical® Fire and Ice Facial at Laser Lights

At Laser Lights, we focus on making short-term and long-term improvements in the health and appearance of our patients’ skin. To this end, we offer a specialized treatment called the Fire and Ice Facial by iS Clinical®. It uses two separate but complementary products: a Resurfacing Masque and a Rejuvenating Masque. After cleansing and preparing your skin, our licensed medical aesthetician will apply the Resurfacing Masque and give it time to exfoliate away the damaged surface skin and dead skin cells. After a few minutes, the Resurfacing Masque is removed and the Rejuvenating Masque is applied to infuse the skin with hydration and nutrients. For many of our patients, a brief series of Fire and Ice Facials can produce noticeably brighter and more youthful skin.

As with just about any skin treatment, finding the right facial depends on what you’re looking for. If you’re in need of a relaxing afternoon, head to the spa and have a great time! But if you’re hoping to make a real difference in the quality, appearance, and age of your skin, schedule a free consultation at Laser Lights to discuss our Fire and Ice Facial or our dozens of other treatment options.

How to Ace a No-Makeup Selfie

Uncategorized Atlanta chemical peels, atlanta facials, atlanta laser treatments, Atlanta microdermabrasion, Atlanta microneedling

No-makeup selfies are all over social media, and at their core, we love the message behind them – encouraging us all to step away from our Instagram filters, ditch the cover-up, and appreciate the beauty we already have. But for many (including our own patients at Laser Lights Cosmetic Laser Center), that’s much easier said than done because, despite that saying our elders used to get us through those awkward teenage years, beauty ISN’T only skin-deep. If you’re not happy with your appearance, the self-consciousness can be a nagging stressor that’s constantly in the back of your mind, putting up invisible blocks to hold back your smile. That’s why we’re here to help with treatments to unleash (instead of cover up) your own natural beauty by addressing your specific concerns.

Undo sun damage

We may not have a DeLorean that can take you back in time and remind you to slather on the sunscreen, but we do have a number of ways to minimize those pesky age spots which have appeared after years of sun exposure. For milder spots, light chemical peels or microdermabrasion may be effective, but for more significant hyperpigmentation, your best bet may be fractionated CO2 laser skin resurfacing, photofacial rejuvenation, or targeted laser treatments, which still offer little downtime.

Banish acne once and for all

Whether you’ve been battling one pimple or another for decades or you’ve been fairly acne-free until recently, we may be able to help. Silk Dermalinfusion® microdermabrasion removes dead skin cells and damaged surface skin while using a customized topical solution to give you clearer skin and keep acne at bay. Some gentle chemical peels are even well-suited for acne treatment, and we offer acne facials which are designed specifically with those clogged pores in mind.

Show your age in wisdom, not wrinkles

Nobody likes to look in the mirror and see fresh wrinkles, but here’s the good news: because this is one of the most common aesthetic complaints around, it has a wide variety of potential fixes, too! If you want to go the ever-popular injectables route, our double board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. David Whiteman offers muscle-relaxing injections like Botox® as well as fillers like Restylane® and Juvéderm®. Other effective wrinkle-smoothers include microneedling, laser treatments, photofacial rejuvenation, and chemical peels.

Get that fresh-foundation look

Ah, the dream – waking up every day to a complexion that looks great foundation-free. Réjuvapen® microneedling is one of our newest and hottest treatments, using tiny needles to activate your body’s natural collagen production for minimized acne scars, smaller pores, and an overall more radiant and even complexion. If facial redness is your main concern, we have specialized laser treatments that can help, and we can also remedy other complexion issues with chemical peels or Silk Dermalinfusion® microdermabrasion.

Kick acne scars to the curb

Whether they’re raised, pitted, or simply discolored, acne scars are quite the challenge to cover up. Depending on the shape and characteristics of your scarring, we may recommend photo rejuvenation, microdermabrasion, chemical peels, microneedling, or fractionated CO2 laser skin resurfacing to help you finally purge those unhappy reminders of pimples past.

Top it all off with luxe lashes

Beautiful eyelashes can be the perfect finishing touch for any look, and you may not need mascara to get them. Latisse® eyelash enhancement allows your lashes to continue growing past the point when they would normally stagnate, causing them to become longer, fuller, and darker.

We all enjoy looking our best – it inspires a confidence that allows us to let loose and enjoy the rest of our lives more fully. But we’re happy to say that you don’t always need makeup to make that happen. By tackling each of the cosmetic issues that are holding you back, we’re here to help you fearlessly snap those No-Makeup selfies and take on any other challenges that come your way. To discuss the best treatments for your skincare needs, schedule a consultation at Laser Lights Cosmetic Laser Center. Popular Aesthetic Treatments for Kids and Teens

When many people think about cosmetic laser treatments, they think of wrinkle reduction, hair removal, and other services that are generally used by adults only. But there’s no age limit for the benefits of healthy self-confidence, which is why some laser services (as well as non-laser services) can be great ways to address several cosmetic concerns in children and teenagers.

Hemangioma Removal
Hemangiomas are abnormal blood vessel growths which tend to appear in infants and children. They can be bright red (like a strawberry) or, if they’re deeper beneath the skin, they can resemble a blue swell. While they’re quite common and generally harmless, these growths often appear in prominent areas like the neck, so they can be embarrassing for a child. Our specialized laser treatments can remove most hemangiomas after one treatment with no downtime, although two treatments are occasionally needed for larger growths.

Birthmark Removal
There are many forms of birthmarks—some are light brown and smooth (café au lait), some are darker and bumpy (congenital nevus), some are dark red (port wine stains), and some are even blue (Mongolian blue spots). For children (or patients of any age) who are self-conscious about their birthmark, laser treatments can effectively remove the mark by targeting the pigments or blood vessels beneath the skin.

Acne Treatments
Given how important self-esteem is for teens, acne can be a heartbreaking condition, especially considering that most teens will feel its effects. In fact, according to the American Academy of Dermatology, as many as 85% of people between the ages of 12 and 24 have some degree of acne. Fortunately, there’s no shortage of treatments that can help. Our acne facials are a gentle yet effective way to clear excess oil and other pore-clogging culprits. Some chemical peels, as well as our popular Silk Dermalinfusion® microdermabrasion-like treatment can also help to minimize pimples, inflammation, and other symptoms of acne.

Acne Scar Reduction
For many teens, the effects of pimples can last long after they’ve disappeared. When pimples cause damage to the skin, they can leave behind a scar, whether it’s an indentation, a raised bump, or an area of darker skin. The treatment for acne scars depends on the type of scar, as well as the patient’s individual needs. Many chemical peels can minimize scars by removing the damaged surface skin to reveal fresher, younger skin beneath, and Silk Dermalinfusion® microdermabrasion uses a similar approach. Réjuvapen® facial rejuvenation is another effective acne scar removal treatment, which uses tiny micro-needles to break up the scar tissue and allow new collagen to form, creating a smoother complexion.

Every parent wants the best for their child and wants their child to feel confident in their appearance. While the idea of cosmetic procedures for children and teens may be concerning, at Laser Lights Cosmetic Laser Center, we’ve served the Atlanta area since 1999 and we only utilize lasers and treatments that have been proven safe and effective for our patients. To learn more about helping your child be more comfortable in their own skin, schedule a consultation at Laser Lights. Prepare for Your Big Wedding Day

Congratulations! You have just gotten engaged and it’s time to start planning the big event. With all eyes on the bride, it’s important to look and feel your best. At Laser Lights Cosmetic Laser Center, we offer personalized laser and cosmetic treatments from facials to laser hair removal to help you feel radiant on your special day.

wedding-day-skin-care-atlanta-ga From invitations and guest lists to securing a venue, it’s no surprise that a lot of pre-planning goes into making a wedding come to life and there’s no exception that laser and cosmetic treatments should go into your plans to give you the best look possible for your big day. When it comes to weddings and honeymoons, skin-revealing clothing make us more weary of unwanted hair. Laser hair removal can effectively eliminate unwanted hair of the face, legs, underarms, chest and bikini area. Using laser energy, hair follicles are damaged during early growing cycles to prevent future hair growth. For most patients, six treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart are recommended for full, permanent hair removal; but semi-permanent results can be seen for some after only one treatment. To ensure optimal results, it’s best to discuss desired results and plan treatments far enough in advance with your licensed laser hair technician.

With no shortage of close-ups that are sure to be snapped throughout the festivities, laser vein removal treatments target visible spider veins on the face and legs. Advanced laser technology uses highly unique wavelengths to safely pass through the skin to close off the vein. Treated spider veins gradually fade, offering immediate results after only a single treatment, revealing a clear complexion. The number of treatments varies depending on the size and location of the veins, so planning at least six months prior to your wedding is advised.

As the date draws near and your preparations are almost all in order, treat yourself to a rejuvenating skin resurfacing treatment. Often described as a “weekend skin peel” because of the shorter recovery time and minimal post-treatment care, micro laser peels safely treat the face, neck, chest and hands. Treating acne scars and signs of aging such as fine lines and wrinkles, micro laser peels use CO2 fractionated laser technology to precisely remove the outermost layers of the skin. Much like a chemical peel but without the chemicals, dead skin is eliminated and collagen production is stimulated to reveal smoother skin tone and texture.

Although Laser Lights is a cosmetic laser center, we also offer other treatments like facials, chemical peels, and more to meet our patients’ skin care needs. Though not always referred to as a “skin care service,” we also offer massage therapy.

Before a massage, our massage therapist will ask you a few questions to determine areas to focus on and any underlying sources of muscle pain or stress to help determine what massage type would most benefit you. During the massage, she uses a combination of her aforementioned specialties based on your specific needs. She typically recommends new patients receive a Swedish massage as it’s gentler and produces all-over muscle relaxation. However patients who have had massages in the past, or are suffering extreme muscle tightness, may benefit from a deep tissue massage. She also uses myofascial therapy to relieve tension caused by damaged fascia (connective tissue that attaches muscle to bone), which is also known as trigger point therapy.
