Cosmetic Laser Treatments, which are able to carefully ablate damaged skin from the surface, while stimulating healing to remodel and minimize the appearance of acne scarring. We normally recommend fractionated CO2 laser skin resurfacing, but this can vary.
Rejuvapen® Microneedling, which we use to effectively break up existing scar tissue, while regenerating new, healthy tissue to create a more balanced skin tone. Results can be amplified by incorporating natural growth factors into the treatment!

What to Expect From Your SilkPeel® Dermalinfusion® Treatment

When performed by our licensed, expert providers, SilkPeel® Dermalinfusion® treatments can provide outstanding improvement for common issues that affect the appearance and texture of the skin including acne, hyperpigmentation, and skin dryness. Today, we wanted to dive into more detail on SilkPeel® treatments for the face, and explain what patients can expect before, during, and after their treatment sessions here in our office.

Before Your SilkPeel® Dermalinfusion® Treatment

SilkPeel® Dermalinfusion® is safe and effective for all skin tones and types, but a pre-treatment consultation is still required. Once we determine that a patient is a good candidate for a SilkPeel® treatment, we recommend that they refrain from receiving Botox® or Dysport® injections for a few weeks leading up to their treatment. It’s also important to avoid using any skin care products that contain retinoids or alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) for a couple of weeks leading up to their treatment session, and avoid excess sun exposure (and sun burns) as well.

During Your SilkPeel® Dermalinfusion® Treatment

During treatment, we use a diamond-tipped handpiece to apply the treatment to the surface of the skin. Depending on the patient’s skin and specific areas being treated, the coarseness of the device’s tip can be adjusted to their needs. The handheld device is able to exfoliate away top layers of dead, dry, or damaged skin, while also vacuuming up debris. After the skin’s surface is cleared and the pores are cleansed, we finish the treatment by infusing the treated skin with a healthy serum intended to improve the tone, texture, and volume of the skin.

After Your SilkPeel® Dermalinfusion® Treatment

There is no downtime needed with SilkPeel® Dermalinfusion®, and patients can typically return to normal daily activities right away. Sessions usually last about 30 minutes, making them easy to fit into a busy schedule. As an added bonus, results are often visible almost immediately after treatment.

Acne is one of those skin conditions that most of us deal with at some point. In fact, according to the American Academy of Dermatology, 85% of people between the ages of 12 and 24 experience at least mild acne. Some people recover from acne with no trace of their former pimples, but many are left with a constant reminder in the form of acne scars.

If you have acne scars, what can you do to get rid of them and finally put your battle with acne behind you? Laser Treatments

Lasers have the unique ability to treat a wide variety of cosmetic skin care concerns depending on the type of light the laser uses and the way it’s configured. Some laser procedures even address multiple cosmetic issues at the same time – including acne scars.

We offer two types of particularly versatile laser treatments for acne scars: fractionated CO₂ laser skin resurfacing and microlaser peels. Fractionated CO2 laser skin resurfacing removes damaged surface skin in a checker-like pattern to stimulate healing and scar remodeling for the skin throughout your treatment area. Microlaser peels work in a similar way but they are more superficial, making them less invasive and more common for mild scarring.

Both of these treatments will improve not only acne scarring but also fine lines, wrinkles, mild sagging skin, and age spots if applicable. This makes either of them a perfect fit if you’d like to minimize your acne scars.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels have been patient favorites for a long time, and for good reason. Like fractionated laser skin resurfacing and microlaser peels, these treatments can help you work toward several cosmetic goals at the same time.

During a chemical peel, we apply a precisely formulated solution to your skin which penetrates through damaged surface skin so your body can shed these damaged layers. At the same time, the treatment stimulates the healing process within the deeper layers of your skin, leading to transforming your scar tissue with smoother, less noticeable tissue.

Rejuvapen® Microneedling

Laser resurfacing and chemical peels both focus on removing damaged surface skin while stimulating your body’s healing and scar remodeling process. However, there’s another option that also breaks up previous scar tissue and initiates the process of replacing it with new tissue that blends better with your natural skin. This treatment is called microneedling.

During a microneedling treatment, we use a specialized tool called Rejuvapen®. Rejuvapen® has ultrafine needles which we use in a pattern of dots across your skin to jumpstart your body’s natural process of breaking down and replacing the scar tissue in your acne scars.

We can amplify your results even more by using your own natural growth factors. We extract a sample of your blood and process it in a centrifuge to isolate the plasma which is rich in growth factors. We then apply this to your skin after your Rejuvapen® treatment, allowing the growth factors to reach the deeper layers of your skin and intensify your body’s production of skin-firming and scar-remodeling collagen.

Silk Dermalinfusion® Microdermabrasion

For milder acne scars, we also offer a refreshing treatment known as Silk Dermalinfusion®. This treatment is a twist on traditional microdermabrasion.

Silk Dermalinfusion® uses microdermabrasion with a diamond-tipped wand to buff away damaged surface skin. At the same time, this wand is infusing your skin with a specialized solution. This process helps your body to break down superficial scar tissue while also brightening and smoothing your complexion.

Three Ways to Maximize Your Facial Results

Since the results after receiving a facial are so profound, it makes sense that most clients want their post-facial glow to last for awhile. While the effects of a facial aren’t permanent, there are steps you can take to maximize your results and keep your skin looking fresh in the weeks following your treatment.

#1: Maintain a Skincare Regimen
One of the most important things you can do to maximize your facial results is to follow and maintain a regular skincare regimen. However, since your face underwent a specialized treatment, you should try to avoid products that could irritate your skin such as alcohol-based toners, scrubs, exfoliators and face masks.

In the first week or so after your facial, make sure to go easy on your face and only apply a cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen. While only applying three products may not seem like a lot, these basics can help your skin stay clear and moisturized while also working to prevent any sun damage to your sensitive skin.

#2: Avoid Sunlight
As previously mentioned, your skin is extremely sensitive after undergoing a facial, especially if you received a face mask, had pore extractions or if your face was exfoliated. Because sensitive, fresh skin is more susceptible to UV rays, it is much easier for your skin to burn and be prone to sun damage. For these reasons, it is best to avoid spending too much time in the sun and to make sure you apply sunscreen that has an SPF of 30 or higher every time you leave the house no matter how bright or cloudy it is outside.

#3: Set Goals With Your Aesthetician Beforehand
Before receiving your facial treatment, you should discuss your goals with your aesthetician. All patients have different issues they want to target and have different desired results depending on their skin concerns. You may get a facial to relax, to remove dead skin cells or to target specific concerns such as acne, wrinkles or dark spots. Whatever the reason, your aesthetician will treat you with a facial tailored to your needs and will offer post-care instructions based on your treatment. Treating Acne at Laser Lights

Our specialty may be cosmetic laser treatments, but we also use the other advanced technologies and treatments at our disposal to improve the appearance of everything from eyelashes to cellulite. One of the most common aesthetic issues that many of our patients want to address is acne. Despite what some people may assume, acne can affect anyone of any age, and adults frequently seek treatment for this condition. At Laser Lights, we can tailor your acne treatment to your specific needs and preferences.

Acne is caused by a variety of factors and can be bacterial or hormonal in nature, but many different patients who experience acne can benefit from one of our custom procedures. When oils in your skin clog up your pores, it creates an environment in which bacteria can reproduce more prolifically than they normally can. This leads to the formation of blackheads, whiteheads, swelling, redness, discomfort, pain, and inflamed blemishes. When these blemishes break the skin, they can potentially result in acne scarring. This is especially likely when pimples aren’t properly treated—most commonly, when a person with acne “picks” or “pops” their zits. This is a bad habit not only because it can cause scarring, but also because it can cause the agitated blemish to come back even more inflamed and conspicuous.

The best acne treatment for you will depend on the severity of your acne, the qualities of your skin, and the causes of your acne. For certain mild-to-medium cases of acne, we offer a facial that’s specially formulated to treat acne by clearing clogged pores. For cases that require a more powerful treatment, we may use SilkPeel® to clear away oils, dirt, debris, and dead or damaged skin cells from the skin’s surface. Additionally, unlike similar treatments, SilkPeel® involves applying topical acne medications during the exfoliation process to allow them to penetrate deeper into the skin.
