Silk Dermalinfusion® Microdermabrasion

Look Great This Summer with These Skin Care Tips!

Here at Laser Lights Cosmetic Laser Center, we’re certainly feeling the heat. Temperatures are rising with the summer season in full swing. In addition to wanting to look your best for all of your summertime trips to the beach and pool, it’s also important to consider how to best take care of your skin during the hot summer months. After all, the sun’s UV rays can have a powerful negative affect on your complexion if you’re not careful. To help our patients keep their skin looking great this summer and beyond, our cosmetic experts wanted to share a few helpful summertime skin care tips.

Tip #1: Being Proactive About Acne

Acne flare ups can happen any time of the year, however they are most common during the summer. This is due to excess sweat and oil on our skin that are caused by hotter summer temperatures. Q.) Why is eyelash tinting so popular during the summer?

A.) Typically, people who have light colored hair also have light eyelashes and eyebrows. Eyelash and brow tinting adds a darker pigment to the lashes and brows, providing a similar visual balance to that created by mascara, eyelash extensions, brow pencil, or other eye makeup. Eyelash and eyebrow tinting are especially popular during the summer months because makeup doesn’t always mix well with outdoor activities. Plus, one session can provide two to three months of tint.

Q.) How do I know which skin care products are right for me?

Q.) What’s the difference between a chemical peel and a facial?

Although chemicals are used in some of our facial treatments, the chemicals used in a chemical peel treatment penetrate much deeper and produce visible peeling. Patients who have never had a chemical peel may want to start out with a facial or a light chemical peel.

Q.) Does Laser Lights offer any treatments to reduce acne?

A.) The treatment we suggest will depend on the severity of your acne. Microdermabrasion treatments, chemical peels, and the acne facial can help with milder forms of acne. Acne: Not Just a Problem for Your Face; How Acne Light Therapy Can Be the Solution for Your Body Acne

Every teenager has experienced the emergence of that one pesky pimple that seems to pop up in the middle of your face right before picture day or the school dance. But sometimes, it is the acne that pops up on other parts of your body that can be the most embarrassing and troublesome.

While acne can emerge almost anywhere on your body, the most common areas for body acne are the chest and the back, also coined “Bacne” (pronounced Bāk-NEE). Body acne can cause embarrassment, can limit your clothing choices, and can be itchy, painful, and uncomfortable. Also, because these areas are typically covered up with clothing, any physical activity can cause sweat to trap and make the affected area even worse.

The problem with treating body acne is that the problem is spread over a larger area than just the face, making it more difficult (and expensive) to treat with topical ointments. While some soaps can be effective in the treatment of body acne, people suffering from this condition may see more significant results with acne light therapy treatments.
