acne treatments for adults

Every patient who visits us at Laser Lights Plastic Surgery & Cosmetic Laser Center has their own concerns and complaints about their skin, but one of the most common issues patients of all ages ask us about is acne. In fact, according to the American Academy of Dermatology, acne is the most prevalent skin condition in the US, and despite the hope we all clung to in high school, it doesn’t disappear when you hit your 20s. Even those who have never had many problems with acne can begin seeing frequent breakouts in their 30s, 40s, 50s, or beyond as a result of hormonal changes or a variety of other factors. But there’s good news – you’re far from alone in your struggle, because our licensed and experienced medical professionals have plenty of tricks and acne treatments up their sleeves.

Silk® Microdermabrasion

As the latest twist on the time-tested and versatile microdermabrasion, the Silk® procedure combines precise exfoliation and gentle suction (to clear your skin of dead and damaged surface skin and other pore-clogging debris) with customized topical medications which can reach deeper layers of your skin to address a variety of concerns – yes, including acne.

Chemical Peels

One of our favorite features of a chemical peel is just how versatile it is. At Laser Lights, we offer a wide selection of peels, so we can provide you with a treatment customized to your specific needs. Several of our chemical peels were designed with breakout-prone skin in mind, and many are also effective for smoothing acne scars as well, so you can weaken those ghosts of acne past.

Facials and Pore Extractions

Most people already know that blemishes essentially occur when pores become clogged and inflamed, and try as you might, your at-home cleanser just won’t be able to get all those microscopic specks. That’s why many of our acne patients visit us for regular acne facials, which focus on refreshingly deep cleansing the skin while restoring moisture in a non-acne-causing way. An acne facial typically involves pore extractions as well, during which our licensed aestheticians will do spring cleaning on any stubborn pores to clear away whatever’s clogging them.

Skincare Products

Like most skincare concerns, acne is one of those problems you need to stay on top of. Don’t worry – we have you covered. We carry an extensive selection of skin care products with varying strengths, and our aestheticians can help you design a home care routine to achieve and maintain clearer skin.

Acne Scar Treatments

One of the biggest bummers of acne is that when it’s gone, it’s not necessarily gone. Whether they’re dark spots, indents, or raised bumps, acne scars are typically left behind after a particularly severe blemish – though some patients are simply more susceptible to them than others. Based on your skin type and the unique details of your scarring, we can offer a variety of methods to give you smoother skin, from Réjuvapen® microneedling to an assortment of laser treatments to simple variations of some of the acne treatments above.

There’s no doubt that acne is a frustrating problem. Breakouts can appear to pop up with no rhyme or reason (other than consistently flaring up before all important events, of course). But with the help of qualified professionals, you can get on the road to clearer, smoother skin in no time. To get started, schedule a consultation at Laser Lights.
