Part 2 of Our Laser Types Series: Erbium Laser Resurfacing
Laser Lights has 12 different lasers to remedy all of your skin issues. Your natural skin tone, problem area(s), and even your age are factors that can affect the success of your laser treatments. As discussed in Part 1 of our Laser Types Series, CO2 Laser Resurfacing is a great option for those patients with fair skin and deeper wrinkles, but for more superficial wrinkles and patients with darker skin, Erbium Laser Resurfacing is a better option.
Also known as the YAG laser, the Erbium laser is a gentler version of the Fractionated CO2 laser. Similar to the Fractionated CO2 laser, the Erbium laser delivers very short pulses of light to remove the top layer of skin and stimulate skin rejuvenation in the underlying layers of skin. Unlike the Fractionated CO2, the Erbium laser only penetrates the first three layers of skin.
The decreased penetration of the Erbium laser leads to less bruising and swelling, compared to the CO2, with a shortened recovery time of only one week in most cases. Additionally, the results of Erbium resurfacing are very predictable and are associated with minimal burning of tissue surrounding the treatment area. While a specific Laser remedy can only be prescribed once a professionally trained technician examines your skin, Erbium lasers have been proven successful at reducing the appearance of superficial scars (like acne scars), medium-depth wrinkles, brown/ age spots, enlarged oil glands, and even sagging skin on the face, chest, and hands of men and women.
