How Can I Remove My Unwanted Birthmark?
Some aesthetic concerns are completely out of a person’s control. Birthmarks would certainly fit into this category. Sometimes birthmarks can be passed down from a family member. Other times they occur as a result of certain changes within the body that can happen even before birth. Either way, some birthmarks can become a source of embarrassment and frustration for people depending on their size, coloring, and location. That’s why the cosmetic experts here at Laser Lights are happy to discuss how we are able to use cosmetic laser technology to remove unwanted birthmarks once and for all.
Generally speaking, there are two classes of birthmarks. The first is pigmented birthmarks, which occur as a result of a sudden growth of pigment cells in a specific area. Pigmented birthmarks appear as patches of skin that differ in color from the rest of the complexion. The three most common forms of pigmented birthmarks are Café au Lait birthmarks (often oval-shaped and slightly darker than the rest of skin), moles, and Mongolian blue spots.
The other class is vascular birthmarks. Vascular birthmarks are caused by abnormal or excessive growth of blood vessels under the skin. In many cases, vascular birthmarks are more obtrusive and noticeable than pigmented birthmarks. The three primary types of vascular birthmarks include port wine stains (reddish or burgundy in color and often appear on the face), hemangiomas (red spots that sometimes form on the surface of the skin and may protrude), and salmon patches (pink or light red color).
Our cosmetic laser professionals have experience treating and effectively removing all types of birthmarks. Various types of birthmarks require different kinds of laser treatments. For instance, we often use Fractionated CO2 Laser Resurfacing to treat pigmented birthmarks. This treatment uses tiny scattered beams of laser light to penetrate the deeper layers of the tissue and stimulate collagen production to treat skin discoloration and pigmentation issues. We use a pulsed dye laser to treat vascular birthmarks like port wine stains and hemangiomas. This technology uses heat energy to safely dissolve the damaged capillaries, which allows the body to naturally dispose of the affected veins.
When performed by the experts here at Laser Lights, birthmark removal treatments are safe, simple, and highly effective. We use only the best, FDA-approved cosmetic laser technology to promote outstanding, long-lasting aesthetic results during every treatment we perform.
