Announcing the New Southern Laser Academy
Southern Laser Academy is raising the standards of commitment to cosmetic laser education. Before founding this program, Dr. Whiteman and Josh Weinstein noticed a large gap between the minimum state-wide cosmetic laser training requirements and the amount of training that it actually takes to successfully administer these treatments to patients. The state of Georgia only requires a couple days of training that merely cover one type of laser hair removal. Southern Laser Academy, on the other hand, is designed to thoroughly cover many of today’s most popular lasers and procedures. Our cosmetic laser experts designed the laser training curriculum to give students hands on experience and a strong leg up on competition.
What Specific Learning Material Does Southern Laser Academy Cover?
The curriculum at Southern Laser Academy is designed to cover the fundamentals through advanced techniques, without cutting corners. Our students will begin with a comprehensive overview of cosmetic laser physics and safety. Our staff takes safety precautions very seriously when we use any of our cosmetic laser equipment, and we instill that same priority in our students.
After the safety curriculum, we will tackle the physiology of skin and hair as well as how to assess each patient to best match their skin type to a cosmetic laser. This is an important challenge that cosmetic laser professionals can sometimes overlook after undergoing other traditional training methods.
Next, students will get thorough, hands-on training with many forms of light therapy such as intense pulsed light (IPL), broadband light (BBL), and more. Unlike most laser academies, we provide cosmetic laser training for advanced laser tattoo removal and laser skin resurfacing technology. We also discuss other non-laser technologies, such as non-surgical fat reduction, non-surgical skin tightening, and beyond. This helps our students stay well-rounded and up-to-date with the latest developments in the industry.
On top of training our students how to perform in-office procedures, we also provided extensive instruction on proper patient interaction. Between consultation training and role-playing simulations, we can correct common mistakes and offer constructive feedback on each student’s provider-to-patient etiquette. If students want to take their training a step further, we’re proud to offer externship opportunities that give them the chance to gain hands on experience with our providers at one of our cosmetic laser centers.
