What to Do About Early Signs of Aging
Aging is one of those unfortunate realities that we try to forget. It happens to all of us, but at very different rates—your friend may still be enjoying the same radiant skin they had when they were 20, but in the meantime, you haven’t been asked for your ID to buy wine in years. Regardless of how many wrinkles you counted in the mirror this morning, now is the time to do something about it. Like many of life’s problems, aging is easier to address the earlier you start. At Laser Lights Cosmetic Laser Center, we offer a wide variety of treatments so that patients of all ages can enjoy beautiful skin. For those of you who are on the younger side and are just starting to notice the early signs of aging, here are a few treatments which may be your best bet.
Facials
If you’re new to the world of skin treatments, a facial can be a great way to dip your toes into the water. As one of our milder procedures, a facial allows you to simply relax and get pampered with cleansers and specialized skincare that is tailored to your needs. Check out our anti-aging facial if fine lines and wrinkles are your biggest foe.
Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion involves exfoliating away the dead skin cells and damaged outermost layer of skin to reveal the younger, fresher skin beneath. It’s long been one of the most popular ways to improve signs of aging, acne, brown spots, and more, and now we’re offering a reinvented version called Silk Dermalinfusion®. This treatment is different because specialized topical medications (based on your specific concerns, of course) are applied during the microdermabrasion process, so they can give you the best improvement possible. Plus, it’s pain-free and quick, with treatments only lasting around 30 minutes, and there’s no downtime necessary so you can jump right back into your to-do list. Silk Dermalinfusion® microdermabrasion is safe for all skin types, so even the more sensitive crowd can reap the rejuvenating benefits.
Chemical Peels
Much like microdermabrasion, the goal of chemical peels is to free you of the dead and damaged surface skin to reveal the youthful skin below. We’ve all heard the stereotype about chemical peels—that it takes days for your skin to heal enough to be presentable in public. But this is only true for the most extreme peels—it’s like saying that every workout will leave you painfully sore and barely able to walk. Just as you can make your workout as mild or intense as you want, chemical peels come in many strengths and varieties. While the deeper peels do require some recovery time before your skin is in tip-top shape, we also offer many mild peels that actually cause little or no visible peeling.
Micro Fractionated CO2 Laser Resurfacing
If the mild skin treatments above are a little too mild, laser treatments may be the best next step for you. Like chemical peels and microdermabrasion, micro fractionated laser resurfacing aims to reveal your brightest, youngest skin while also boosting your natural collagen production so you see fewer fine lines, wrinkles, and acne scars. Because it produces more dramatic results than Silk Dermalinfusion® or a light chemical peel, this laser treatment does call for some downtime, but it’s still kept to a minimum. In fact, it’s been nicknamed “the weekend peel” because most patients who get the treatment on Thursday or Friday can return to their daily activities by Monday with no signs of the procedure.
Clearly, there’s no shortage of ways to help your face look younger. But before you jump in headfirst, remember that you should work with a licensed aesthetician to decide which treatment option is best for you and to work out an appropriate plan.
