Performed at our Duluth, GA medical office, north of Atlanta.

We perform an assortment of light chemical peels at Laser Lights Plastic Surgery and Cosmetic Laser Center in Atlanta, Georgia. The term chemical peel is derived from the methods’ ingredients. By using a chemical solution, the top-most layer of skin and is eliminated to reveals a fresh, soft, younger-looking complexion. Our chemical peels will erase imperfections, minimize fine lines and wrinkles, and restore collagen in the skin. They require minimal downtime and are performed by our licensed estheticians. It is, however, very important to wear sunscreen after your chemical peel as your “new” skin is more susceptible to sun damage immediately following treatment.
Laser Lights Cosmetic Laser Center offers the following chemical peels as individual treatments or in conjunction with other facial rejuvenation procedures such as microdermabrasion or debris extractions:
Fruit Acid Peel
Our fruit acid peels are composed of glycolic and lactic acid and are among our mildest formulas. This chemical peel treatment smoothes areas of rough skin, regulates acne, and corrects hyperpigmentation. Our fruit acid peels are great alone, but can also serve as a pre-treatment for our TCA peel. There is no downtime with this chemical peel, and our patients love it because they can show off their refreshed appearance right after treatment.
Glycolic Peel
Derived from sugar cane, our glycolic peel will remove the outer-most layer of dead skin revealing your beautiful skin underneath. The glycolic peel is great for patients who wish to correct fine lines, melasma, acne (or acne scars), or dry patches. While erasing imperfections, this chemical peel will also promote the body’s natural collagen production. Depending on the strength of the chemical concentration used, the face may appear slightly red before peeling, but it will return to normal within a couple of days.
Jessner’s Peel
Known as a stage two peel for its increased strength, the Jessner’s Peel can effectively reduce the signs of aging and help smooth the appearance of acne scarring. A more potent compound than the fruit acids used in the Mandelic Peel or Glycolic Peel, the Jessner’s Peel also uses salycilic and lactic acids to penetrate the top, dead layers of skin and induce noticeable peeling for a week following Jessner’s treatment. The Jessner’s peel is ideal for patients with moderate to severe acne, those with acne scarring, or those who have previously received mild chemical peels but desire more dramatic rejuvenation.
Mandelic Peel
Our mandelic peel is perfect for all skin types, even sensitive skin. The mandelic acid is derived from bitter almond extract. Our mandelic peel patients love their results because it not only helps acne breakouts and hyper-pigmentation, but also stimulates collagen production to minimize signs of aging. The part they love most is that they can get right back to their daily activities. After this chemical peel, you may notice some slight redness after your procedure, but it should subside in just a few hours.
Micro Laser Peel
Just as laser skin resurfacing, microdermabrasion, and chemical peels can individually improve skin clarity and texture, combing the three can further enhance their results. You’ll notice tighter skin immediately (and full results in just a few days) following the laser treatment. Redness and irritation may occur, but you’ll be showing off a rejuvenated appearance within four days. Click here to learn more about our Micro Laser Peels.
Salicylic Peel
Salicylic acid is the active ingredient in many acne treatments. In addition to acne treatment, our salicylic peel smooths rough skin and regulates hyper pigmented lesions. There is no downtime with this procedure. The skin may appear flushed immediately after treatment.
TCA Peel (Trichloroacetic Acid Peel)
Our medium-depth TCA peel is perfect for erasing fine lines, age spots, and areas of hyper-pigmentation. for most skin types (including dark skin tones). Because it is one of our stronger peels, it may be uncomfortable for the first two or three minutes, but it doesn’t hurt. Immediately following the procedure, redness, irritation, and swelling may occur. The skin will continue to tighten and peel for up to a week. Once the peeling is complete, younger-looking, even-toned skin will emerge.
Vi Peel
The Vi Peel is one of the latest innovations in chemical peels. Virtually painless, the Vi Peel helps to reverse the effects of sun damage, smooth fine lines and wrinkles, clear acne, reduce acne scars, diminish pigmentation issues, and more. Meanwhile, this peel works with your skin to help stimulate collagen and elastin production to give you tighter, more youthful skin. The Vi Peel is highly adaptive and can be used on the face, neck, and/or hands to diminish signs of aging, acne, and acne scarring regardless of patient age or skin type. Most patients experience gentle sloughing of skin afterward to reveal dewy, refreshed skin within a week.
Frequently Asked Questions about Chemical Peels
Q.) What is a chemical peel treatment like?
A.) At the beginning of your treatment, one of our licensed estheticians will prep your skin by cleansing it and removing any make up or surface impurities. Next, the selected chemical solution is applied. Once it’s reached the desired depth, a neutralizing agent is applied. Most of our peels take thirty minutes to an hour to perform.
Q.) How do I know which chemical peel will produce my desired results?
A.) Some of our chemical peel patients have been receiving treatment for years and know which one they like best. However, we also see new patients all the time, which is why we offer complimentary pre-skin treatment consultations (skin analysis). During a skin analysis, a licensed esthetician will closely analyze your skin to find the source of your skin conditions and concerns.
Q.) What is the average recovery time for a chemical peel?
A.) The average recovery time of a chemical peel varies from peel to peel. Most peels cause some amount of flushing immediately following the treatment that subsides in a few hours. Stronger peels may result in visible skin exfoliation for up to a week following treatment.
Q.) What kind of result should I expect from my chemical peel?
A.) Once again, results vary depending on which type of chemical peel is performed, but in most cases, a chemical peel can effectively reduce surface imperfections: sun damage, age spots, hyperpigmentation, melasma, and fine lines. Chemical peels may also help treat and prevent acne breakouts and can boost collagen production for clearer, younger-looking skin.
