Frequently Asked Questions about Massage Therapy:
What are some common ailments that massage can address?
Massage, or reflexology, has both physical and mental benefits. Most regular massage clients report a reduction in the frequency and/or severity of depression, stress, sore muscles, nerve pain, and headaches.
What is myofascial release?
Fascia is the connective tissue that attaches muscle to bone throughout the body. Sometimes, however, the fascia may become damaged with trauma, poor posture, and even musculoskeletal disorders and cause pain and tension. Myofascial release uses controlled pressure to release this localized tension (trigger points) and provide relief to the affected areas.
How do I know what type of massage I should get?
Laser Lights’ licensed massage therapist will begin treatment by asking you a series of questions to determine any sources of underlying muscular pain or stress. Then, she will use that information with your procedure goals to suggest a suitable massage type.
Is there really a difference between Swedish and deep tissue massage?
Typically, Swedish massage is recommended for patients who have not received a massage before, or are just looking for a gentler, all-over muscle relaxation. Deep tissue massage requires the massage therapist to administer more force and should be reserved for those patients who are experienced with massages or have noted areas of extreme muscle tightness.
